First Shipment

Got my first shipment from Northerner. Ordered it last friday night and got it today. About par from what others have reported.

The cast of characters:


I've only tried the Mocca Pomegranate and the Jakobssons Ice Fruit. I thought the Mocca smelled ok and initially tasted ok but once the juice started flowing it had a very bitter and quite foul taste. I think I can muscle through the can but it's not gonna be easy.

On the other hand, the Jakobssons is quite pleasant. I spit the Mocca out after a few minutes and this one in now. This one's a keeper. Someone mentioned it tasted like Juicy Fruit which I can see. Very good IMO.

I'm very impatient so I opened all of the cans. The Offroad cranberry smells odd but I'm hoping it'll taste better. I've seen a few people say it sucks and that the los is better. Maybe next shipment. The coffee/vanilla smells pretty terrible but I'm optimistic.

The Probe smells about like what I was expecting but we shall see. The Oomph must've busted open or something as there was dust all around the plastic wrapper and the portions seem a bit dry.

I'll update later after I've had a chance to try them all out. Thanks to all who made suggestions in my previous thread.

The Oomph! is supposed to be very dry, in fact you do not need to refrigerate it. Most of the time it comes with tobacco dust all over it. I think it's due to rough handling during shipping...

Hi,

I just joined here, but I have been reading and watching for about 2 weeks. I am very new to snus. I don't know if this is the best place for my 1st post, but today I did get my 1st shipment as well.

I work a super boring job, and I am a very occasional smoker, and out of boredom I was thinking of getting some type of dip while at work, even though I never did like the stuff when I tried it.

Anyway, that led me to do some net searching and I stumbled upon snus, which I had never heard of before, so I read and read. I live in the US, so I was curious about the Camel snus, so I got some at the corner gas station.

At first I thought I liked it. But it gave me a super head rush, but not in a good way. I fel bad actually. But I read how much better the real Swedish stuff is, and I wanted to try it before I just gave up. So I ordered the free can from Getsnus. I fugured it was worth a buck.

Well it came today. And let me tell you, it is like night and day compared with the Camel. I got the General wintergreen minis. These actually have a nice taste, and not too overpowering. And it did not give me a sick feeling at all. And something I never did with the Camel, was shortly after a General, I wanted another.

Well, now I know the quality difference, I am wanting to try more. I used to be a regular smoker, but now I just smoked when I visited others that smoked, or/or drank. I was also interested in stopping that, and the better health aspects appealed to me as well.

Anyway, just wanted to say "hi". I have no idea what to get next. But I think I'd like something less "flavored". But flavors I do like is cinnimon, the mints are OK too.

Welcome to snuson tom502. I'm a new snuser too. This forum is awesome the people here are really helpfull and friendly. I was a full time smoker and now I'm down to 3 or 4 a day. If the Camel psudosnus gave you a headrush I'm supprised the general didn't knock you on your ass. The one thing I can say is the unflavored snus is salty at first but I already love it and I've only been sweedish snusin since Tuesday. So give it a try and stick with it if it tastes salty it will go away soon enough.

I'm a bit confused by what you tried. General wintergreen only comes in regular size white portions. Is that what you got, or is it a mini size mint flavor.

Knowing what size portion you prefer helps us make recommendations for other flavors. At any rate, General wintergreen is a flavor made for American tastes, and it is probably the sweetest of all General flavors. There is a plethora of brands/flavors out there to choose from. I started out by getting the Swedish Match mixed box that you can get from Northerner.com or buysnus.com.

I want to apologize to "dunno", as this was his thread about his 1st shipment, and I didn't mean to come in and take the attention off his post. My intent was to just jump in and say "hi" without making a new thread. Though that would be a good idea for a sticky, new introductions.

Let's see, yes, the snus I got was indeed, General Dry Mini Mint.

And it gave me a totally different effect than the Camel. The Camel actually gave me a bad feeling, but the General gave me a perky energetic feeling, where I even wanted another soon after. Maybe the "bad" feeling I had was not in relation to the nicotine, but maybe the way it is made?

Anyway, I am 42 yrs old.

tom502, Welcome to Snuson form a quite seasoned snus user, two years now. No need to apologize for jumping in. I'm just glad you finally posted. This is an amazing community and all us vets still love hearing from new snus users. It reminds us when it was all new to us.

LOL, I agree....there are a couple in there that I will probably never touch again, but you never know...

Looks like he was going for flavors, not just the usual tobacco/citrus/bergamont. 4 of those were in my first order. 2 of those will never be in another order.
