good cheap snus! help!

Well, as I described in another thread, I intended to stop using snus for a bit because I can't afford it, and I have some nasal snuff to bridge the gap

But now I'm at less than 2 cans and a panic has entered me. My new plan is to take any remaining capital after paying my bills and rent this month and purchase the best value snuses I can.

Let it be known that I had a can of skruf stark that I loved for the entire 6 portions I had before leaving it 400 miles away. Because of this I am considering less portions of strong snus, or my normal 4-8 portions of dirt cheap snus.

my current favorites are:

lucky strike regular
jakobsen's icefruit
skruf stark

not a fan of:
offroad apple
probe whiskey
Triumph mint

So, seeing a snapshot of my tastes and considering I might have 20-40 dollars to spend, how do you think I could get the most bang for my buck? Do the cheaper versions of icefruit taste as good, and is there a strong portion that works well enough to cut total usage back by maybe half? Those are my basic questions, but I'm open to all suggestions.

and I'd like to add that in my personal history, loose didn't last me as long as portions for some reason... I would prepare more of it at a time and spit it out sooner. I suppose I could break those habits if there is a really cheap good loose version to use at home, but I need portions at work.

If you like Skruf, than without a doubt, you should pick up some Knox. The taste is very similar (since it's made by Skruf), and it's just a bit over 2 bucks at Buysnus. Yes, I'm a Knox fanboy but it really is great for the price unless you just aren't a fan of Skruf varieties.

Offroad is a harder one to gauge; it is an acquired taste for most people no matter what. I would say that this is a good time for you to acquire that taste, though.... :wink: My recommendations would be OR Cranberry and Wintergreen. With Offroad, you also have the option of the strong portions at a minimal increase in price.

Phantom Classic. 17.00-19.00 per roll. It's a citrus/tobacco/pepper flavor which is a little sweeter than General. This keeps it from becoming bitter, which means you can keep it in longer if you want. It also bakes and holds together well. It's my favorite snus.

Granit is also good, a bit more expensive (on par with Offroad).

Ditto on the Knox. I'd personally stay away from any V2 portion. Some like them, but I can't in good conscience recommend it. If you do lös, I'd give either Phantom a try. My favorite lower priced portion and lös is LD. It's actually one of my favs bar none. Granit I also dig... More so than General.

OMG. Kronan is so far from LS. LD, on the other hand, is quite enjoyable. Pretty close to General imho

What are the black LD portions like? I haven't tried an anise/liquorice flavored snus. Is it bitter? or more subtle?

In any case, definite on the knox, and still trying to come up with another rollworthy cheap one. If I could get 2 rolls for no more than 40 dollars, I'd be glad and set for approximately 2-4 months, Even if I didn't manage to have any more diaposable income

I was ambivalent about the Kronan portions. I was interested enough to repurchase it in lös form. That was a mistake... That was the only lös snus I've ever thrown out... terrible. I agree that it isn't like LS. It's worth a try for a tin though. I'll never get it again, but I can see how some people would like it.

What are the black LD portions like? I haven't tried an anise/liquorice flavored snus. Is it bitter? or more subtle?

LD Black is delicious. It's the best licorice portion I've had. It's smooth and silky, with lots of licorice flavor, but not much tobacco flavor. It lasts a very long time, and if you like licorice, it's a must have.

I will echo what has been said about both LD Black and Knox. Really the two best inexpensive snuses. Some of the other LD is OK too.

Maybe you could order Buysnus' mixed portion pack, and request all low priced snus. Usually it's a mix of high and low end snus, but if you wanted all low end, I bet they'd comply... The price is pretty good also. I'd specify that you didn't want more than 3 V2 snus' though.
