    Second Order - Comments/Suggestions?

Just started snusing on Thursday and am already eying up my next order. I decided to go with Northerner because they had most of what I had planned on getting, competitive with pricing, and seemed to pretty popular around here. I'm looking for any ideas as to what I should definitely keep, get more of, leave out, or add in. Here goes.

Ettan los - 2 *only snus of these that I have already tried*
    Goteborgs Rape los - 3
Odens Extra Stark Cinnamon los - 1
    Roda Lacket los - 1

Catch Eucalyptus white portions - 2
    General Onyx portions - 1
Goteborgs Rape No 2 white portions - 1
    Jakobssons Icefruit portions - 3
    Northerner Energy - 1
Oomph Citrus and Menthol - 2

*Is this too much for one order? I consider myself an average user, portions during the day for class and stuff, and los for hanging out at home*

So, that's it, give me all the criticisms you got, and any suggestions you may have. Thanks guys.

Hiya, welcome to the forums :^)

The amount of snus doesn't look unreasonable. I'll give some suggestions for replacements.

Drop 2 of the Rapé, and replace with 1 Grov, and 1 General lös.

Drop 1 Catch, and add a Gotland Yellow

Drop 2 IceFruit, add LD Black(if you like licorice), Rapé#2 if you don't... and Probe.

Northerner Oomph, and Energy... I wouldn't really call these snus. Tobacco based nicotine delivery system is more accurate. I'm opposed to them on principle, and haven't tried either. I don't want to steer you away if you want that kind of product, but it's a different thing altogether compared to your other choices.

      Dude,

It's not really "too much" for one order.

I would question the three cans of IceFruit and 3 Rape loose.

Three cans of something you've never tried before is brave.

I normally order 10 - 20 cans at a time so what you lined up seems reasonable.

Everyone has different tastes, so I might not dive in head first to the citrus menthol and catch eucalyptus like you have. Not saying you shouldn't, just saying I would be sure I liked something before buying multiples.

Consider the tasting kits for sampling. They are at a better price and offer a pretty good selection. SM only though unless you kick up to Northerners try out box.

      Good luck.

      Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the suggestions! I figured I would always be curious about the energy, so I might as well get it out of the way and decide if it's for me or not. How is the General / Grov compared to Ettan?

*EDIT* You're probably right on the multiples there...they sounded good enough to justify, but upon looking around the forums I see how much everyone's tastes differ, so I'll take your advice

(Might be room for an Icetool in there now  )

General is a little peppery, with citrus notes. Grov is similar to Ettan, but it has a coarser grind, and it a bit smokier in my estimation. I like both of them equally. I'm not so crazy about General, but it's the world wide best seller, and is the brand to beat in the snus biz.

          Edit:
If you have the money, I definitely recommend an IceTool. It makes using lös as easy as portions, and it's well made neat "thing" to carry around.

I agree with the others regarding the multiples. The SM tryout box is ok, but I would recommend the Buysnus mystery mix....good price and the selection they send you is usually quite good, even though their description kind of makes it sound like they are going to send you nothing but budget brands.

Yep, it's been pretty much said. Be wary of getting multiple tins of snus you haven't tried. You may end up finding out you don't like it too much and then you have extra tins of snus you don't want. Also, I wouldn't get an icetool just yet. I'd get a prismaster first and see if I enjoy lös first. This way if I find I'm not too crazy about it, or if I don't do it all too often, I'm not out $40 on something I wouldn't use much or ever. My next order should be coming in Monday and it'll be my first experience with lös. If I find I like it I'll start scrounging for an icetool, but meanwhile I'll test the waters first.

My first order was 14 cans. A buysnus portion mix and a few that sounded good. So your order doesn't seem excessive. My advice for new snus is buy 2 of them to get a feel for whether you like them. That way you aren't getting a bunch of cans you hate and either toss them or suffer through.

Anything you really don't like you can list on the trader thread and pass off. Or let it sit for a few days and try again. Many of us had things we hated at first but have come to like. Don't give up on a certain brand to quickly. There are only a few snus that I detest.

                Welcome to the board.

                  >give me all the criticisms you got
                  Not enough lös.

                  >any suggestions you may have
                  More lös.

I second the opinion about waiting on the Icetool. Pricey, if it turns out you do not like lös. Otherwise, just try all of it. It is the only way to know what you like.

Advice on flavors to get started is good I guess. Then you will not get disappointed and leave. After that, have at anything that sounds good. It is the only way to know.

I'm already locked into los . Despite my lip being pretty ripped I've went through about half of the Ettan that I got on Thursday. Ok, so I've added in some General, Grov, and some Gotlands Yellow. Any other ideas? I'm quite happy with my ratio of portions to los at the time (for now). How new are the colored/silver icetools that I see on their site? Will I see them soon on Northerner to make the wait worth it, because those are pretty classy .

I would add 1 can of Offroad Wintergreen portions, it's a very flavoursome unique taste, some love it, others less so (looks on the horizon to see if sage is watching) It's my all day snus. Depends whether you like strong minty flavours. Give it a go.

yeah, not only would I not get multiples of something I haven't tried, I also wouldn't get multiples of something I haven't finished a can of and immediately been happy to open another.

for me, some snuses are one can wonders. Or one can stands. Ettan was like a 3-can run for me, then I was well tired of it and had 7 cans left.

                        It's tricky work, honestly.

If there's something you think you'll like, it's not necessarily bad to get two cans. If you don't like it at first, you can throw the other one in the freezer and try it again later (then you also have a back-up for if you're running low). Also, if it turns out that you love the snus, you at least have enough to last until you order some more. I did that with a lot of snuses, which was good because it took a couple of cans to really appreciate whether or not I liked the flavor.

I went ahead and ordered, added in an Icetool and took out a few things. Quick question without starting a new thread: I used to dip american tobacco and am still getting used to not getting all that much flavor out of my pris. If I poke at it with my tongue to get flavor I just get a mudslide in the next couple of minutes. Do you just take the flavor as it comes (very slowly, not for 10 minutes sometimes for me)?

I poke it with my tongue, and squeeze it with my lip. It'll take awhile before you learn what you can get away with, but you can really manipulate the snus once you're used to it.
