Connor - I'd recommend staying away from nicotine products altogether. Once you start it's extremely difficult to stop, no matter what, so it's pretty much a life commitment (or sentence).

      btrip,
I didn't think you came across as mean at all. As for what you said, I agree. I think it's factual. But the question as to "why" people do what they do, which may not be "good", I don't really know. I guess it's psycological in some way.

I would suggest using snus. The nausea is just initiation. After that passes, the members of snus-on give you a beat down, and then you're "cool"

I'd say that this is a prime time to say "Hey... I can spend my money on any number of other things that don't make me feel like shit"

You asked me not to preach in your initial post, but I can't hold back here. I've been addicted to nicotine for 20 years. The only reason I snus is because it is an enjoyable means to feed my addiction without killing myself with cigarettes.

If a single mini portion made you feel that shitty, Why on earth would you want to continue? So you can catch a "nicotine buzz"? Sure it is a stress reliever. etc... ONCE YOU ARE ALREADY HOOKED AND COMFORTABLE WITH IT!

Go to the drug store and buy a box of Vivarin. Or to the convenience store and get a 5-hour energy shot.

To get yourself hooked on something like this is absolutely pointless. At first it'll make you feel alert, "buzzy", etc... But after a while, you just use the shit to feel NORMAL.

Don't do it man. Throw the shit out and buy a pack of gum or some mints if you really need to have something in your mouth.

I only say all this because I love you as a fellow human being.

Why are you trying snus if you aren't even addicted to nicotine? I wish nicotine never got held of me, but it did. You should throw it away and enjoy your life without being addicted to a drug. I'm being serious too. I started smoking cigarettes because I was a complete idiot. You should stop using snus before you become addicted!

                Thanks guys

I guess it is kind of silly using a nicotine product which provides twice the amount of nicotine than cigarette even though my body has never urged for it before. I dont know it just seems "cool" and a healthier alternative to cigarette smoking which it is, but after reading most of your comments i have come to the conclusion that snusing really isnt for me and i guess curiosty just got the better of me.

At least i didnt turn to cigarettes as a form of nicotine intake.

Something you fellas are not considering is that if he's interested in nicotine, and aware of snus, then he's better off starting snus; rather then trying to avoid nic completely, but then borrowing an occasional cig, and then smoking 1-3 packs a day.

Of course he could switch to snus at that point, but then, like alot of ex-smokers, he'd still have a cigarette every now and then, which is worse than if he just started snusing and kept snusing. This is coming from someone who smoked one cigarette in my life, much preferred american dip, switched to snus. I never, ever, crave a cigarette; the things are gross to me, and I honestly think if there wasn't a smokeless option the drug would still interest me and I would've become a smoker.

This is my honest advice: If you think the cost is worth the effects of the drug in the long term(meaning no real buzz), then nip it in the butt. pre-emptive harm reduction, wave of the future.

even having nicotine withdrawal can be a positive thing, keeps your priorities focused. You know you need nicotine, you can be sure of that. When you get it, your dopamine kind of kick starts everything else.

Now imagine having no specific need like that to keep things in order... what to do? watch a movie, knock over a bank, pick up a hooker? nicotine is a great equalizer. Plus if you do die directly from snus you'll make medical history, and you won't live long enough to catch other fun things like degenerative brain diseases.

Also, aren't you tired of all that money in your pocket? You might think spending it on things like appliances will make you happy, but they break. And take up alot of time. Better to spend it on a sure thing- addiction mitigation.

The other thing is nicotine is fun to be without. If you think being on it is fun, just withdrawal and keep an open mind. If you stay positive and pretend you took some downers mixed with something that induces headaches, it could be fun!

Ok, that's all the positives I can think of.

I agree with all the posters, it is rather dumb to do. But new people do it all the time. I can only speak for myself. I think it has a certain novelty about it. And maybe subconsciously, people want a "crutch", or something to be a part of a community, and share an interest. The snus movement is interesting, seems like real nice people. It seems way better than ciggs and alcohol healthwise. I know it's probably dumb, and I know this thread is to the poster who started it, and I agree, if you don't even smoke at all, and this stuff makes you feel bad, I second to quit it all together. And if you have cans, put them on the snus exchange thread, and I am sure someone will take them off your hands. For myself, I've been an occasional smoker, past drug user(mainly mary jane), and checked into many of the "alternative" legal highs. I kinda like my snus stash box in the freezer, and it does have a novelty aspect, and it's Swedish. Just my opinions, but yeah, overall, I agree it's not "good" to start, esp if you don't even like tobacco products.

The taint of a little vice is better than a big vice...

If it is too much for you but you want to experiance Snus - try a non nicotine version of the same.

Why do people drink alcohol? Why do they smoke? Chase Women? Drive fast? Buy Hooligan Bikes? Join the service?

The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Heed the warning and drive over the cliff anyway.

The taint of a little vice is ok. If someone didn't have at least one I would be very suspicious of them. Watch out for the big ones or the ones you can't control.

I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex.

And enough with the quotes already... LOL!
