    Freezing?

    Another newbie question...

I just purchased my first my first order of Snus, and it arrived today via mail. I ordered the Swedish Match Portion Pack. Before this, I used to bum snus off of my Norwegian friends.

I'm not a heavy user, maybe using 1 or 2 portions a day. I hear the best way to store snus is by keeping them cold. However, people speak of 'freezing' snus. Is freezing actually putting the tins in the freezer, or just in the fridge?

    Thanks for your guidance.

Snus should be stored in the fridge (4-8 °C) up to the bäst före-date.

In the freezer, you can keep it up to 12 months.

So, freezing is only needed, if you cannot consume your snus up to best before date. Many of us place larger orders to get a better price per can. Therefore we often talk about freezing the snus.

      Cheers!

Yup, I keep all my snus frozen solid until I'm down to about 3~5 prillas in my opened can.
A frozen can will thaw at room temperature in about an hour or so depending on what the box material is (cardboard, plastic, metal) but I kinda like a nice pris of freezing cold snus also, so it's all good to me.
