Tre Ankare... what am I missing?

I just tried Tre... and I gotta say I'm disappointed

I see in another thread people are talking about how good it is

am I missing something? What am I suppost to be tasting that makes it so good?

    Maybe nothing :^D

All this stuff is personal preference. What I like about it is the subtle tobacco flavor that has some earthy herbal notes. It's not a smack you upside the head uber delicious snus. The flavor's mellow, and doesn't interfere with drinks or food. Just a good all day, every day(if you like white portions) kind of thing.

I like it because it is "middle of the road". It's not real flavored, not real salty, not fruity, just good tobacco, with some light herbal notes. I liken it to a Gotlands Yellow white. Same basic taste to me. Yes, Gotlands is a bit less subtle, but .....

        ^^^What they said.

        Here is Buysnus' description:

"Deep, full-flavoured and a little earthy taste of dark tobacco and dried herbs."

I have never really understood where they get the taste descriptions for most of their snus (or any of the other vendors, for that matter).....I rarely ever taste what they say I'm supposed to be tasting. This one is pretty much right on, though.

          For me...

For me Tre Ankare was a bit of an acquired taste. It is sort of earthy and bland, but grew on me. At first I started with a tin of minis and didn't think much of them and set them aside for a few weeks. When I came back to them after a spree of alternating between every new snus flavor I could get my hands on, I loved the mellowness. For awhile I switched to the regular size Tre Ankare as a staple, but for whatever reason (this happened with Lucky Strike too) I started to find them too strong nicotine wise after awhile. Now after my early "experimental phase" I've settled into using Tre Ankare minis and Kronan White portions almost exclusively. For me, and after much experimenting, they're what my taste buds seem to like an my head can tolerate the most.

I'm starting to understand now... it's mellow flavor is what you enjoy

I personally perfer snus that kicks me in the face

            That could explain the descrepancy

It's funny you brought this up. I am using Tre Ankare for the first time in 6 months. This has always been a hit or miss snus. At first I didn't like it, then I thought I did. But this time, it is really missing for me, the flavor is just "off"

Maybe it's just my tastes that have changed. I use Retro White, Lucky Strike White, General Stark, and Pall Mal a lot. I have one or two Oynx a day, a few Thunders. Although I have a rather large number of favorites, they are just that, favorites, and I know what to expect from them. This just tastes "off" to me

I just finished a can of Got Green, which I loved

cracked open the Tre... and nothing... flatline

I'll continue using it, just to make sure I'm not just having incorrect expectations. I rarely meet a snus I can't finish.

Cept OR Apple, oh and Nord Julesnus. Those were aweful.

Thread prompted me to try the tin I've had for a while, must say it is the most bland snus I have tried. Don't dislike, don't really know what to say about it. It definitely is not tasteless, but it really is the most middle of the road snus I have ever had.
Don't really get an earthy taste, just seems really bland, and I generally like straight tobacco snus, this just seems to need something, like I said, don't dislike, but really seems to have very little flavor at all.

I like it, but white portions aren't my thing. If was available as loose or even regular portion, I'd be more inclined to use it on a regular basis.

Right on man. I just moved here from Portland, Oregon. I'm loving Denton. Loving Texas in general. The rainstorms thus far have been epic.

I recently got some Tre Anker minis, and I think they are pretty good. It reminds me of lemon mainly, like a lemon tea. If I have it with a cola, it's like a Lemon Coke. Not sure I'd get it again, as I think I am prefering more bold tobacco like Grov and Ettan. But these Tre's ain't bad. I've been doubling them.

Yea put me at the ho-hum table as far a Tre goes. Not bad but never really got much from it. When I have to go with a portion Retro is the first on my list. When I have to go with a mini its Tabaca stark or Thunder Frosted
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
