Thank you for posting that Yamaha760. I knew I didn't dream that one up.

I think Utah already has a law past...ordering any tobacco from out of state is a crime

With what I have on hand, I probably have a good 2 or 3 yrs anyway.
    just "the way I roll"

Bought 3yrs worth of tobacco because of the $25 per pound tax on bulk tobacco starting April 1.
I had no idea at the time that snus would make me quite smoking, lol

California's tobacco taxes alone are insanity!!!

No, the law in Utah has just been proposed. i posed about it a bit ago. I don't expect it to make it through Utah's state legislature. And even if it does, Utah has a very cool and reasonable governor, I just don't see him signing a bill like that.

I picked up a can of General Loose earlier this week in Seattle. The price was over $7, including tax. I commented on this to the dealer, which didn't evoke much of a response. I think that this tobacco shop is overpriced in general (most of their smokes are over $7.00), partially because they are a specialty shop. It just frustrates me to think that people might be less inclined to try this wonderful snus because it is being sold at such a high markup (beyond taxes).

The General tastes just like the stuff ordered online. Very nice: tobacco, pepper, and citrus, with that smokey flavor in the background. It was definitely a nice treat, and frankly I'm going to continue to buy a can here and there to support the U.S. snus market.

          mercvrivs:

Where did you buy it? Tobacco Patch in Pioneer Square or up near Pike Place Market? I work a block away on Washington St. from the Yesler store, but still haven't dropped in to check... Not sure exactly where the Pike store is.

Did they have the General fridge? I'm so curious to see how this sells here! I like that guy at the Yesler store. When I first started with snus I asked if he had ever heard of it and showed him some. He was unaware, but intrigued. We both agreed it would be tough to sell, but that was before Camel and anyone had any idea how snus would be received. Anyway I look forward to checking it out

Bought it at Yesler. I agree, the guy there is very cool. I told him some stuff about snus too. I think that both of these stores have higher prices because they're in the touristy district and sell a lot of specialty items. They have the fridge and you can see it through the front window. He was very friendly and gave me a General sampler pack, so stop by and buy a can from him sometime. They also have a lot of good signage for the General line, which makes me very happy to see.

A new store popped up 2 miles from my house! -happy dance- That makes 3 stores within 30 minutes from me that carry it. Sadly though, they all seem to use the same distributor, and occasionally, they all have a problem getting it or it is late.

Also, and this is kind of unimportant at the moment, but I have been laying into a local convenience store owner I became friends with (my Mountain Dew hook-up) to try to carry it, and he is hard at work figuring out a way to get it at the convenient store. If he does, he may be the first gas station that I know of to carry it. I gave him Swedish-Match's contact info so he can try to find a distributor for it, but so far it is looking like only specialty tobacco lines deliver it. I will let you know how it turns out, though.

Camel Snus was launched here a couple of weeks ago, and people have gone crazy for it down here. I am assuming a lot of those people who are selling-out all the stores would have an open mind to try any other snus product they came across, and General is cheaper and includes more (and doesn't taste like stale candy either). I can only assume it would be a hit!

Sorry to make out-of-topic post, but another way we can see the above phenomenon in effect is how quickly we "read". Then if you try to read (at least make the sounds) of a language you don't understand, like French, Portuguese or something like that, you will be reading at maybe 1/10th the speed that you can make the English sounds, even if you try to go as fast as you can. We are not even looking at all the letters in English words; we are only looking at the shape of the word.

But it does not work on every word. Only our common words. For example, "anthropomorphizing" would probably not work.
