    It could read something like:

Dear Gotlands, we the undersigned are requesting that you make a natural flavored loose snus. This is a product that we would be eager to try and anticipate using on a regular basis.

Thanks for your consideration of this matter.

    Regards,
    snuson.com readers

By the way a natural loose from Gotlands would rock.
I didn't give you an official welcome Snusdog, so Welcome to snuson!! :^)

I like your idea in principle, but I think it's a fruitless activity. We're just a microcosm of the snus market, and while our opinions might be worth noting, the Swedish market is where the money is. The Swedes want General, and that's about it. If I had my way, all the companies would make more lös, and quit with the high nic crap. High nic will be gone in a couple of years imo, but the lös will continue to dwindle :^(

That's what I wanted to get a feel for from our more experienced posters. If its worth doing lets do it but if its just a waste of time why bother.

However, being a small unnoticed sector is not a bad thing IMO. If somebody notices us it wont be long until someone taxes and regulates us

I don't think this site can be considered unimportant. More than one major snus manufacturer posts here and one has used members to test new products. All three of the biggest online vendors monitor and post. The vast majority of posters here are in markets that are largely untapped for snus and have huge growth potential. No other forum, bulletin board, or mail list I have ever belonged to has appeared to have the ear of the industry the way snuson does.

I posted a suggestion for V2 to consider an Extra Sterk version of Phantom Blue just recently and had a nice reply that they would think about it the very next day.

Obviously manufacturers will have to look at many different factors before they make a business decision but I think the idea is a good one.

Swedish Match owns Sweden, so the rest of the makers fight for the rest.

Gotlandssnus seems very independent, and don't seem too interested in what we think, or at the very least, what *I* think :^D

V2's going after the international market a little harder, so they'll be more receptive to our ideas.

All the other makers are faceless corporations, and don't have a presence here.

We just aren't that big. It's easy to lose perspective when you're on a forum, and everyone agrees with you. It leads you to believe the rest of the world does also :^D

We have 1386 members total which isn't too shabby for a niche product, but it's just the tiniest fraction of the whole market. In reality, we may have 3 dozen members that post with any regularity. I'm not sure most of the makers care that much.

Btw, major props to Patrick, and V2 snus. I really appreciate the consideration you give to our forum, and our opinions :^)

At least Buysnus and Northerner read here, and even post occasionally on Northerner's part.

And for me, that kind of participation is far more important as they are a major link for us.

And I am excited to see V2's new products do as well as they have been so far. Their attention to what we say is just very cool and I am pleased to be able to support them financially now.

I *almost* ordered some Blue again, but just couldn't pull that trigger. But I will be a forever Thunder customer.

I hate the cardboard cans. I think its my OCD... After about halfway through a can, I can see the tiny little specks of wax in my snus and even though i cant taste them, I KNOW they are THERE...

As for if the petitions are a waste of time: who cares? it takes all of 5 seconds to vote. If the powers that be listen and consider our ideas, great!, if not, nothing of any real value has been lost.

maybe this sounds kind of obvious but is it the case that the wax in the paperboard cans only melts outside of sweden? I mean, I'm sure it's still hot inside of cars in the summertime there(actually I'm not sure) but I'd guess that's more of a concern for the american(and other) market than theirs.

I don't want to deprive anyone of their favorite snuses, but it seems like if SM owns sweden, and the rest compete for us buyers peppered around the world, we ought to patronize them with more fervor and avoid SM as conscious consumers. Ones existence is guaranteed and doesn't need us, and if the rest of the companies listen to us, they can at least serve uys better and at best compete better in sweden as well with our suggestions.

You can do that, but I'm going to continue to buy snus based on what I like, regardless of brand. SM is successful for a reason: they make a quality product.

The only thing I have to add is that I like the cardboard cans. I really fear that my beloved Ettan lös may taste "different" or even "spoiled", if it came in plastic-cans. Like the natural cork (vs. plastic or screw tops, oh the horror) on wine bottles, I really believe that the wax and the cardboard-cans assist the aging (in the good sense) of some snus-brands.

I never had any issues with the cardboard cans or the wax. Tiny pieces of wax sometimes makes it into the prillas, yes, but I don't think they make any difference in taste and I don't find it disgusting at all.

That's just my oppinion and I also don't believe in such "petitions". We would long have a relaunch of the discontinued Nick&Johnny lös, if the opinions of a few dedicated snus-users really would matter on the big scale.

                      Cheers!
