General - Extra Sterk vs. Onyx

Let me preface this by saying that while I pride myself on being able to detect flavor subtleties between portions, my palate is in no way educated enough to tell you what it is I am tasting. I know that I like the mix of flavors in a General, I know I like the unadulterated tobacco taste in a claq qui, I know I HATE the "windex" taste of Phantom Blue. What are these flavors that I like or dislike? No idea.

Anyway to the point, I have just tried my first General Onyx portion and while it has been stated that it is just a fancy version of General, there is something else in there that I don't notice in the regular? Anyone else notice this or am I crazy?

    Thanks!

Not crazy at all, to me, theya re completely different. I love oynx, not a huge general fan otherwise.

But don't ask me to break down what the flavors are, i just have never wanted to work that hard.

Me gets the classic bergamot, pepper, and smoke flavor with a touch of licorice which provides a natural sweetness to the snus. Methinks GES is very similar but with a more pronounced tobacco note. How's that sound? Methinks me should be writing up these flava descrips.

Remember someone saying Onyx had lime flavoring? May be wrong, just popped in my head and too lazy to search posts to find out.

I really like the Onyx better, seems it has more of the citrusy flavor towards the end. So far this is one of my favorites. It seems smoother than the ES.

General Onyx has a very pronounced lime flavor that isn't my cup of tea. The flavor is so strong that the sourness is apparent. If you prefer flavored snus, this is one of the better ones.

I get a lime flavor from the GES. I don't get it from General Loose.

The lime flavor in General Los is very subtle. All the General portions have a heavier flavoring of lime. General Onyx, on the other hand, is basically pure lime with a splash of tobacco. Its not my thing, but lime lovers will appreciate it.

Hmm, I guess my taste buds are off. I taste the pepper more strongly in Onyx and while I do taste a citrus flavor I taste the citrus more strongly in GES. They are similar IMO, but I prefer the GES, which is nice since it is the cheaper one. The citrus flavors seem different too, with GES not being quite as sour (more like Orange).

Everyone's taste buds are different. Its just a matter of what YOU think it tastes like. For example, I think Ettan tastes like chocolate, while others think it tastes like plain tobacco.
