    V2 test review - Moonshine

So this is the one Xobeloot and i were laughing about. I've had moonshine, I live in moonshine country and it's still made here. Umm, folks in Denmark?? moonshine doesn't taste very good!!

Smell - Smells like alcohol, it really does. I lived in a fraternity many, many moons ago and I remember. If that is your thing, go at it. But one whiff and I remember all the times I spent worshiping the porcelain goddess

Looks - light brown and very moist.

Flavor -Ugg, oh my God, I don't like this. Bitter, not sweet at all. In all fairness to V2, they did a remarkable job getting it to taste like alcohol. I'm impressed. But what on God's green earth made you think it would be something I would want in my snus...LOL. I mean, I will drink the stuff when I have to if I want to get drunk, but it isn't something I ever crave the taste of.

I have had it in for about 10 minutes (coming out as soon as I am done here) Quite bitter, and the aftertaste (of alcohol, fair is fair) is horrid, at least to me.

Maybe a few folks would really go for this. It is certainly not bad in the way I would call level bad. It is true to it's name and they really do a remarkable job capturing the flavor. So many snus say they taste like X and all I can taste is Y. Not so here. It really delivers. I guess if I really wanted to get the clap, I'd be pleased when she delivered. But I don't. Nor do I want a snus flavored like moonshine.

Am so curious as to what the others will say. I will probably force myself to have one more, this came straight from the freezer. But if the second time is as bad as this, I think I will forswear a repeat performance tomorrow.

I'm gonna say right now...Thank you for taking one for the team Sagedil. That does not sound pleasant at all. We really do appreciate the grimaces you probably put up with to give that review.

Hugh!!?? Ummm...I don't even really know how to respond to that one. It is sortof hard to imagine anyone wanting a moonshine flavored snus, but I could be wrong.

You're a better man than me, gunga din! I have been dreading the moonshine flavor for a week, and still don't have the courage to try it. But since you did I'll have to now.

I have to admit, I purposely chose the two I thought I would dislike the most early in this process. I kinda hoped to quiet any remaining "I'm so jealous" talk, at least to make clear it wasn't all bunny rabbits and kittens. I promised Patrick I would review all, and I want to be fair to him and V2 and give them my most honest feedback. Even if that meant I had to actually put a snus in my mouth flavored like moonshine.

But fortunately, nothing remaining is nearly as bad. There may be a few I'm not sure will work as a snus, but nothing that makes me want to run away with a sugar cookie in my mouth

Still wanting someone to finish the Northerner Flavor Poll by making Dragon Fruit.

I think V2 could do a good job but I think Patrick should review the old thread that included flavors like Dragon Fruit, Cactus and Lime and a few others that were good ideas.

Moonshine though..... that just sounds unappealing.

Wonder if those in the EU have ever had real back country shine.

Straight from the stil its nothing short of drinking lighter fluid and is usually mixed with Punch or something to hel pcut that god awful flavor.

I have some that a guy aged for a lil while using GA Pecans and it was rather good but still burned liked swallowing a razor blade but at least had a good taste.

Moonshine Snus is nothing I would buy.

Yeah. I've had true mountain shine plenty of times and it was not enjoyable. I am very curious to taste this.

Ok, just so Sage wouldn't be alone I grabbed a Moonshine out of the fridge.

Smells like bad bourbon, well maybe cheap bourbon. Tastes like a cross between Jim Beam and Yukon Jack, of course I've been drinking vodka for years so my memory of whiskey is fuzzy at best.
Truthfully I don't think this is that bad taste wise. It definitely tastes like the name sounds. If one likes Probe they will like this also. I don't like Probe, it's too sweet for me. Moonshine to me, is Probe done right. So after one portion I will try it again tomorrow. Maybe my opinion will change.

To sum up, I agree with Sage, moonshine is very good at what it is supposed to be. Do I like it enough to keep some in the freezer? I'm not sure yet.

LOL, I knew *someone* might like it. But that's fair. If you actually like the taste of bad alcohol, this snus is for you!! And I mean that in all seriousness. V2 really hammered it, it is a true "alcohol" taste, nothing like probe beyond even the sweetness issues. Probe just plays at it, this is the real McCoy.

Personally, I find it disgusting. But that is my tastes talking. Others may have different tastes.

                    A note to V2:

As others have already alluded to in this thread: Are you sure you want to call this one moonshine? Moonshine is a distinctly American term for a homemade product that while not distinctly American (I am thinking of various homemade booze concoctions I have sampled throughout East and Central Asia), brings to mind among Americans a product that is cheap, amatuer, and tastes terrible. Terrible!

Nonetheless I am very intrigued. Maybe that's the point. I would buy this simply on the name alone... but just out of curiosity. Not because I like moonshine. Anyway congrats on recent developments in your efforts to expand the line and also to get US consumers involved. Very cool !

Like you Roo I'm glad there is a company out there that is willing to "get outside" of the box and try to develop some new flavors. That being said, what were they thinking? There isn't enough fruit in the world that you can jam down into a jar of moonshine to make it taste good. I think putting the fruit in the jar is merely for asthetics, you see the fruit and think, awww this can't be that bad. Then BAM the paint thinner/hillbilly flea dip flavor hits ya!! I'm as country as anyone, but I can't think of a single person that says, "I think some moonshine would be refreshing right now."

Also, just a tip...don't ever get moonshine in your eyes when you do not have access to water, you'll beg for someone to piss in your eyes to rinse it out!

If V2 is going to make a moonshine flavored snus, why don't they make a marijuana flavored snus? They could get away with it by calling it "Herbal" or "420 Blend".

That's what I was thinking. Just like manufactured spirits... The experience can be unbearable, or sublime depending on the given care.
