First post in forever. Some questions/recommendations sought

What's up guys, long time no see. I pop in occasionally but haven't posted anything in close to six months.

What's new in the world of snus? Any cool new brands, flavors, dropped products, etc? I put in a huge order at buysnus back in September, stopped snusing altogether, and now I'm trying to pick up the habit again.

See, I had quit smoking and snused exclusively. Even with moderately low nicotine snus, it was hitting me way too hard. I'd get real dizzy and feel like I was about to pass out, and this is coming from a guy that smoked two packs a day of Camel non-filters.

Anyway, this was upping my anxiety levels pretty high, and I started getting panic attacks. I switched back to the cigarettes and everything went back to normal, but I'm really trying to get back to snusing. I just don't want a repeat of my previous experience.

My three favorite brands are Goteburg Rape, Mocca Pomegranate, and Lucky Strike. Based on these three examples, could anyone recommend a good low level nicotine snus? I prefer either loose or mini portions.

How's the Oliver Twist stuff? I'm wondering if it would be too low a nicotine hit.

Hi there. Well Thunder is a new one, but at 16mg/g, and reading your post, probably not your cup of tea. Oden's is new and boasts 3 flavours - original, cinnamon and liquorice. Goteburg, General, and Tre Ankare all do white minis btw.

For most snusers, I think Oliver Twist is fairly weak at 5.7mg/g - I find, like a few others that I need more than one in at a time. However, for your purposes it would seem fitting. They are very tasty, I would recommend the royal. (english liquorice  )

Oliver Twist's are very good. I don't know if the nicotine's enough for you, but they're well worth a try in any case. They're quite tasty, and while I don't like them as well as snus, they make an excellent diversion.

Long time no see fellow North Carolinian

Unfortunately, most of the new as of late has been on the strong side, nothing yet really on the mini side. General has new mini mints, but those aren't available from the usual sources. Seems to be a product aimed just at us here. And unfortunately, the closest store selling General is in Richmond

          Hello superdevil,

Just a little curious. How were you using the snus and what kinds? Did you chainsnus? Did you use 4 a day, 8 a day, or more?

It has been my experience that if I chainsnus reg portions(8 or 9 mg nicotine) or close to it, I will get a slow to come on headache. But found that if I drop down my usage to 4 or 5 times a day with a stronger snus, that does not happen.

Your experience may be completely different. I did use the Oliver Twists before I purchased my snus and while they do taste great, the nicotine delivery wasn't up to par for me.

That being said, Maybe they will be just what the doctor ordered for you and worth a try.

I really hope you find the right combination.
          Phil

Thanks for the responses guys. ('Sup Sagedil!)

I've never been one to chainsnus, but when I was using Camel Original (which I see has been discontinued in favor of "mellow") I was using about eight or nine portions a day. When I started using the real stuff, I cut back to five or six a day, but even then it seemed like it was hitting me too hard. I would be OK if I was sitting around doing nothing, but as soon as I got up the nicotine would seem to hit me all at once, and I'd get dizzy and almost fall out in the floor, then have impaired vision for about twenty minutes. Really hard to see out of my left eye. Spooky stuff! This, in turn, would leave me thinking I was having a nicotine OD, which would bring on a panic attack, which would then bring out a cigarette (my antidote to most panic attacks). Finally I just cut out the middleman and went straight to cigarettes- and I've been kicking my ass ever since.

I was going to suggest straight mini-portions, but seeing as how you were using camel, which is close to that nic content, how about this:

get some non-nicotine portions and mix them in every other nic portion. Some of them taste pretty good I hear, and users are surprised how much their cravings are reduced despite being nic-free.

It also presents the opportunity of eventually getting off nicotine, if you want to.

hope you can find a suitable snus-regimen, but if not, remember 1% of the population of sweden still smokes despite the wide availability of snus. different smokes...

Who makes Nicotine-free portions? That's highly interesting.

                  There are several brands available:

Nicotine free snus won't help with nicotine cravings though.

There are several mini portion snus' available that have 4-6mg of nicotine. Check them out:
