Hi, Folks.
Lots of new things for me. First, I tried snus a few days ago after seeing one of those Camel SNUS signs. Frankly, it was pretty painful, but I hadn't had nicotine since giving up a 2.5 pack-a-day habit over 18 years ago, so I wasn't surprised. I'm not fond of the Camel SNUS, but I hated Camel cigarettes, so, not a surprise here either. Way too sweet and way too...uh...cheap. Or sumpin. Anyway, it was unpleasant. But, I missed my buzz and was never going back to cigarettes. And there was no way I was going to carry a spittoon around with me. Also. I don't do outdoors breaks in the hot summer and frigid winter. And my beloved doesn't do second-hand smoke.
So, it was almost with a choir of heavenly voices that I saw the sign for SNUS at the gas station. After a couple portions, I realized it was going to be a battle between crappy Camel tobacco and my desperate need to snus. So, I turned to the internet and found the Swedes. I did some research (thanks for all your information here!) and made my first order Sunday. (I spent all day Saturday trying to find ANYONE in the state of Iowa who had some real snus.)
Here is what I'm excitedly waiting for:
1 x General Mini White Portion
4 x Göteborgs Rapé Mini White Portion
1 x General Mini Portion
2 x Tre Ankare Mini Portion
2 x Mocca Pomegranate
I decided to go with minis - at least in the first batch - since I think I understand that Camels are about that size, and these are plenty big enough for me, after all these nicotine-free years. And, having a full set of dentures, I don't have a lot of room up-lip. Besides, I can always ramp up later if I need to. I know where they make the stuff ;-)
I hate licorice, and I don't want to get too sweet, so I thought this might be a good start. I figure maybe I'll man-up and try the Skruf Strong White Portion next time, or maybe even the Ettan. I'd have to do the larger, looser stuff at home though. And I'd have to convince myself to spend the extra cash on the icetool instead of more snus, since I can't see myself being handy enough to bake a proper pris without wasting a lot of tobacco practicing.
One more lovely surprise: I checked with the Iowa tax website, and - given that I understood [453A.43 Section 4 Para c] properly - I think I get to have up to 10 ounces at a time TOBACCO TAX FREE! I think that means more than two rolls of minis, with room for a bit of experimentation!
Anyway, I appreciate all the info I found here and thank you Guys for the forum. I'm open to any advice or correction.
