Just tried LOOSE for the first time, I need suggestions

Just tried Skruf Stark LOS as my first LOS, amazing, as an ex dipper this is now my prefered way of using snus. But what other flavors do you guys recommend? My favorite type of taste is Goltand Rape or maybe Ettan, anyone else make good LOS`s?

Also getsnus.com gave me a free pismaster and I think it works perfectly, no mudmouth, did it right the first time, just squeeze till a little juice comes out, then pop it in.

what is the benefit of spending 40$ on an icetool, is it that much better?

ALSO: Why does it seem like the LOS hits less harder and has less flavor than the portions, everyone on here makes it seem than it hits you harder with mroe taste, does it jsut take longer or something? It doesnt seem that its that strong, an its Skruf Stark

I just got the Icetool (had the prismaster). The Icetool makes a rounder pris that just seems to feel better in the mouth and you also have more control over the size of portion you make. I think it was worth it.

Skruf Stark is my favorite loose.

Thuunder loose is pretty good. It stays together really well.

I also like Knox and Gustavus. Both have great taste. Knox is like Skruf no stark. (Skruf makes Knox).

The Ice Tool is something that I put off buying for a very long time. I was very skeptical about spending that much money at first.

I regret waiting as long as I did. Particularly since I use quite a bit of loose snus. I really prefer the shape the Icetool makes the snus.

You're pretty limited to the size of pris you can get with the prismaster.

If you try more loose snus give Phantom a try. It also stays together really well and tastes great.

I haven't had Oden loose yet, heard good things.

Just get a loose snus mixed roll from BuySnus or a "bag o' snus" from snus central. Then you'll get a variety for a good price.

If you like Swedish Match brands, their loose snus try out box is a good value too to try different flavors.

If you are only experimenting then I'd say hold off until you're sure you like loose snus before buying an Icetool. If you do find yourself using loose snus pretty often I would highly recommend taking the next step and buying one.

        I'd suggest Grov Lös.

I put off buying an Icetool for a long time also. I used a Prismater with Ok results, but the shape the Icetool makes is totally different and better. I wish I had bought one much sooner. For a bit more than than a single Zippo, (of which I have several) I got a really cool functional snus accessory.

I'll second the Grov los suggestion. First snus I ever bought a roll of. If you do buy an icetool (they are sweet!) and decide loose is not for you, you could easily sell or trade it.

Skruf Stark is also my favorite. I really like good ole General Los as well though. Holds together forever. The Ettan has a nice mellow flavor and forms a pris real easy too. Looking forward to my Thunder Los if it ever is back in stock and ships...so I can't give any opinions on it yet.

If you like the Göteborgs Rapé portions, go for the Göteborgs Rapé lös. It's my current favorite. Tastes just like the portions, but smoother- less salt. Go for it NOW!

If you like Ettan try out Grov and possibly Göteborgs Prima Fint. Be warned, though, that Prima Fint is a very mild tobacco and you may not pick up on all the flavors until you've given it a good long try. At first it was almost nothing for me, but after a week of using it I started to pick up on the mellow sweetness of the natural tobacco taste.

Grov has its own flavor profile that I can't pin down for the life of me. Sometimes it's a little citrusy, sometimes a little tart, and always has an undertone of pure tobacco. Either way it's pretty good if you like strait up tobacco.

Roda Lacket may also be another one you might want to try out. Some people love it, others not so much. It's a little sweet, a hint of fruit, and lots of pure tobacco. Again, I didn't pick up on the flavors until I used it for about a week or so and I'm still picking up new flavors in it.

That's about the extent of my experience with lös so far. Over the summer when I have more storage space and a summer job I'll order some new stuff and see where that takes me. I've been hearing some good things about Oden and will give that a try. From what I hear if you enjoy citrus flavors General and Gotland Gul (Yellow) are pretty good, especially Gotland. Knox is very similar to Skruf but without the heavy nic content (again, Knox is made by Skruf). And I've heard nothing but excellent things about Nordströmmen Loose Limited Edition lös.

As for the Icetool... I got a Prismaster first just to make sure I enjoy lös. Then dland125 custom tooled me an icetool out of sheer awesomeness for helping him out. So far I really like the icetool he made for me. It packs and forms the pris so much better and I've found the pris to stay together a little longer too. I'm not sure if it's making the cans last longer, but it's a worthwhile investment if you know you're going to use lös a lot. Just make sure not to lose it.

                Hope that helps.

I'm having an interesting experience at this moment.

I took a pinch (not tightly packed at all) of Oden's extra strong los and put it under my upper lip: massive nic hit, but now - after about 10 minutes - it seems like a regular strength portion snus. I'm usually a portion user (mostly Thunder wintergreen lately), but I expect Oden's los (throwing in a pinch, not baking a "pris"), to be ideal with beer or other alcoholic beverages. Why? Because I've been minimizing my consumption of such drinks lately, for the simple matter that it invariably makes me smoke cigarettes. I think (I will probably test this next week) that an Oden pinch may be my total quit trigger. Maybe taking a pinch, spitting it out after 15 minutes, taking a new pinch etc. will be required for keeping my mind off the cancer sticks while drinking beer. We'll see.

You definitely have to try Grov. The coarse grind and the pure tobacco taste make for one of the best loose brands out there, hands down. I'm primarily and Ettan guy, but I always have some cans of Grov loose around. Great stuff.

Knox is great too. If you like the coarse grind of Grov but want something sweeter (but not sickeningly so), try Knox. The price is not indicative of the taste, I assure you.

Coming from Copenhagen my favorite brands of loose are Ettan, Goteborgs Prima Fint, General, and Roda. I would say though much like portions, try em all

I think nic hit/taste wise the difference is the salt content. To me anyway the loose does not seem to have nearly as much salt.
