Hello, I'm a new user to snus. I've never smoked/chewed/dipped/etc before and was interested in snus once I read about it. After I looked up the health effects of snus vs American snuff and decided to give snus a try.
So I ordered a few different cans about two weeks ago. I got an Elixyr peppermint and energy can and a can of Skruf original and extra. All regular size portions. So I put the Elixyr peppermint in, tried it for a few minutes, then the Skruf original. Both of them for probably 15 minutes each and got dog sick. I feel for people when I watch someone get sick from this kind of stuff when they first try it now. I felt horrible, like I was going to puke. I took a nap, woke up about an hour and a half later and felt much better.
I tried it again there the next night, I had been drinking cause I was out, and put it in for about 30 minutes and then was done with it, couldn't take it anymore, same feeling.
Fast forward to last weekend and I was out drinking, and didn't put one in till I had already had a few beers and I could leave it in till there wasn't any flavor. Putting one in would give me a good buzz in between beers to keep myself in check so I would be legal to drive, so I could leave one in till the flavor was gone and felt fine. I probably went through 5 or 6 pouches a night there last weekend when I was drinking and felt fine. Come Sunday I hadn't had any all day and my roommate wanted some help working on his car and I had one in then until the flavor went away, was fine.
Yesterday I put one in after I get back from class and it makes me dog sick like the first one I put in. Today I try to leave one in and can't hold it for more then 10-15 minutes before I start getting sick.
So, what's the trick with this? I feel great and it gives me a good buzz when I have one in while drinking and the next day. If I'm not drinking or haven't lately I get sick as a dog.
Is this usual for beginners? Any tips to cut back on the sickness? Would it have to do with having an empty stomach (I eat well on the weekends, didn't get sick on the weekend)?
*I'm not an alcoholic, I'm in college and this was the first weekend in a long time I could drink without worrying about a project or big test on Monday.
