    Marlboro Snus

It appears that Marlboro is going to be test marketing snus in the Dallas-Fort Worth TX area beginning August. I am in the Chicago area and as of yet have been unable to try the Camel snus. I just signed up for the website so I'm hoping they send me a sample. Here's a link to the product fact sheet.

    http://www.philipmorrisusa.com/en/po...fact_sheet.asp

    Some interesting facts.
4 varieties; Rich, Mild, Mint and Spice
    Innovative Slidepak™ packaging
Utilizes unique flavor strip technology(not so sure this is a good thing)

I hope it doesn't turn out to be a dry portion with a flavor strip in the pouch. From all I've read it sounds like Camel is on the right track marketing a more traditional style snus and it looks like Marlboro is trying to be "innovative", ie, fixing what isn't broken. I am interested to see the packaging though.

So I imagine, from what the fact sheet tells us, the cancer enhancer factor will be no different to that of a Skoal Bandit.... The only differences being the tobacco will be drier and of more daring flavours.

PM: Show us some careful quality control (as the swedes have done) and allow a safer alternative... Looks like the new Marlboro Man will die from lumpy-jaw instead of lung cancer... These products will tarnish the good reputation of swedish snus.

This sounds so wrong. In the UK a maxipad is a.....erm...feminine hygiene product. I don't want to enjoy one of those no matter what the flavour

I agree about the marlboro, hope they don't try to introduce some below par cancerous snus imitation

          Agreed!

What they might want to fix, though, is:

          - cutting the cost of production (selling cheaply produced crap instead of real snus)
          - making people to prefer/continue smoking
          - making those, who like the stuff, pay more than necessary (I guess, there is no doubt, that these 12 pieces of so called snus are used up very much faster than a can of real snus).

It should be forbidden to call such a product 'snus'. It will scare many people away from real snus. The 'promotional' product-fact-sheet alone sounds just disgusting.

          Cheers!

I believe that maxipad translates into feminine hygiene product in any language.

i have not seen a a good product released by the big tobacco corporations in more than 30 years.
If you want smokeless, get the real snus.

ah hell naw man, see the word 'slidepak' doesn't use a C! that's so edgy and therefore, high quality. I'm going with this stuff asap! a must have because of the cool wording, yo!
i love TECHNOLOGY driven 'flavour strips' man! i never tasted one but I know it MUST be cool because TECHNOLOGY is involved.

this ridiculous crap is a testament to how dumbed down the populace have become...fancy words that skip out on certain consonants or vowels. like 'Xtreme!' ...as if said lame ass product is really extreme and over the edge man. and other bastardizations like putting two words together that on their own are nothing but all of a sudden...whoa doggie! slidepak? how INNOVATIVE! and usage of other words that people in general are usually willfully ignorant about and feel a sense of warm and fuzzy like 'technology' and 'digital', 'system' etc
if it didn't lure dumbasses to buy it, we wouldn't likely see these methods being employed everywhere 24/7.
i just saw the other day there's a ****ing toothbrush that has an LCD display on it.

I don't think, people are so dumb to buy this stuff. The terminology can be "translated" to easily:

Utilizes unique flavor strip technology = disguises the used low quality tobacco with artificial flavorings.

Innovative Slidepak™ packaging = is expensively packed.

12 snus pouches in each Slidepak™ = too few pouches for the price.

                      ...

This product, undoubtedly will be a commercial failure, exspecially with competitive products like Camel Snus and, of course, Swedish Snus.

                      Cheers!

disturbing, hey? It's coming, man... tins of Spaghettios with full-motion labels that taunt and jeer at you whilst doing the shopping, trying to distract you and entrance your children into purchasing them :?
