    Camel Dip (not snus)

Reynolds American Inc.'s bid to make Camel a comprehensive tobacco brand has placed the manufacturer between the cheek and gum of users.

The company will launch Camel Dip, a premium moist smokeless product, in test markets in Colorado and Florida beginning in mid-June.

Camel Dip will be distributed through Reynolds' Conwood Co. subsidiary, making it the first time that the manufacturer has marketed a Camel product outside R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.

Camel Dip, which is expected to sell at retail for $4.50 to $5 a tin, will compete with Conwood's Kodiak and Philip Morris USA's Copenhagen and Skoal brands. It will make its debut in two styles -- Dark Milled, a traditional, fine-cut product, and Wintergreen Wide Cut.

Thanks for the info............but the name "Camel Dip" kind of puts a "different" product in my mind. :P
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

That has an attractive lid. The Swedes could take some tips from the American makers :^)

That is a nice looking can. If the test market ever expands to Texas, I'll definitely pick one up if only to have the can.

Yeah that is a pretty nice looking can, but if our beloved snus manufacturers spend more money on making cans prettier, then the cost of our snus goes up as well.

Is a Camel Dip anything like a Camel Toe?

SM can make all the pretty cans it wants, just so long as they don't beautify the loose cans. I love the cardboard/wax and the somewhat retro label designs.

I am very interested in tasting the dark milled. Not the wintergreen.

I'd be willing to pay the $.05 extra for a nice tin lid. The plastic lids, especially on the lös are garbage. They used to use tin lids, but quit at some point. Also, the tins lids are recyclable :^)

The Dark Milled flavor sounds pretty interesting. I hope the flavor has an old fashioned Turkish flavor. Knowing RJR, the dip will be overly sweet and taste horrible.

I'd try a free sample of any flavor.

I wonder what made the king of Camel decide, "hmmmm where should we test Camel dip... I know, Florida and Colorado!"

I suspect that re-tooling a production line, and an increase in raw material for the can's lid would increase product cost's a bit more than .05 per can, but if that were all, I'd be willing to pay extra too.

to me this is a very neutral event.

however, I can imagine an unintended benifit will be that people will see camel dip and snus and differentiate the 2.

I am thinking it will be another smoky natural taste like cope snuff, grizzly snuff, red seal natural, etc... I'll be interested to see how it tastes.

I also wonder if RJR is actually manufacturing it, or is it going to be made by Conwood op one of the other US manufacturers.
