Looks like American cigs are approximately $2.20 cheaper than UK cigs judging by your 'cig'nature

I am actually managing to keep off the cigs with just my e-cig at the minute apart from one weak moment where i got a pack of 10, so i am pretty sure with the Snus and Snuff i won't even be thinking about a cig.

Im actually pretty excited about getting this in the post

I do plan on trying the loose or los aswell at some point but im going to wait and try this first.

P.S On the ciggy side of things I just did a conversion using current rates and the Lambert & Butler i smoke which is a mid-range cigarette in the UK works out at about $8 for a pack of 20. So something like Marlboro would prolly be about $8.50 - $9 for a pack of 20 if you converted it into dollars.

I've smoked rollups for forever, so I don't keep close track of prices. In MD I think we're about $5 per pack of 20, but you could expect $8+ in places like New York City :^O

The US varies widely because on top of federal taxes, each state, county and even cities have the option of adding their own taxes. In Florida right now I can still buy a carton of Malboro Reds for about $35.00 individual packs can still be bought for $4.50. Our state is working on their new budget and more than likely will add another $1.00/pack in taxes.

I suppose in some way each state is almost like a country with it's own laws and taxes.

I think though from what i have heard though even the most expensive states are not as expensive as here, well at the minute anyways..... After so much time of saying they want to make smoking inaccessible they are finally actually trying

Anyways enough about ciggys this is a Snus forum after all hehe and i can't wait to get my first batch

Just thought I'd correct one of my replies. In one I stated that Catch Dry Eucalyptus wasn't very good. Well being a sprog (newbie) to snus I'm still learning how to use it and it's my fault not Catches. What I now do before I stick one under my lip is to roll it around my mouth to moisten it, then stick it under.

Since you are new to snus, right now you are going to be tasting salt. Once you get accustomed to snus the saltiness will diminish.

The Catch is definately more salty than any others I've tried.

Stuck in some Odens Sterk last night - beeeeaaaautiful taste......but it didn't last long
I'm moving up already to the stronger blends and I can see myself looseing in the future - definately.

This stuff is simply brilliant for people wanting to ditch the cigs and all the brands have something good about them.

The Toque really comes in handy while out having drinks!

I made the mistake of buying the mini box when I started and ended up doubling the portions. The 3 mg Oomph in the mix actually was not that bad.
I think the absorbtion percentage might actually be higher with this stuff. The 6mg gives me quite a jolt compared to any 8mg regular portion.

truthwolf1, the Oomph is made differently then any other snus, and definitely gives a much higher kick

ya, I'm new to snus as well. Well not that new, but new enough to start typing on a forum. I started snussin a few months ago with the Camel stuff, told a friend, and he made the jump to sweden, so I followed. Since then, I haven't looked back. I love this stuff! I was a pack a day guy, now I'm a can a week snoozer! i love this stuff!

Im pretty sure when we buy normal cigarettes in the UK from newsagents/cornershops etc it's even more than 100%

From what i hear they are raising the tax sharply on cigarettes over in the USA at the minute too right?

Yes, we in the UK "enjoy" cigarette taxes of between 350% and 475% depending on the final sale price (the lower the price, the higher the proportionate taxes - gotta hit those low income earners, eh?)

3 established schools of thought:

1- start with minis until your body gets used to snus, and if you still feel like smoking alot, move up to regulars

2- use regular strength snus and still smoke if you want(the sage method). snus will eventually take over

3-throw the cigs in the garbage and keep regular and strong or extra strong snus on hand for your varying nicotine needs. alternately, use nasal snuff for the more immediate nic-hit like a cig.

so any of those may work for you- I'm certain one of them would work for anyone

I'd go with three. I don't need a cigarette ever, I just have them when offered. I went from 2 packs a day to near constant snus and snuff use with no withdrawl adjustment.

On the taste - it's twice tastier today than it was yesterday when I got my first sweden snus package (15 cans, I want to open them all but they'll expire!) yesterday. I was using the camel junk but I could never go back now.
