    camel snus reviews

my roomate gave me two coupons for 2 free cans of camel snus, so i got the frost and the mellow version, these are my uhh reviews of them...

first off, the camel snus is RIDICULOUSLY sweet in comparison to the swedish counterparts, which is what i started with (and what i prefer, tbh)

the frost sucks. it is WAY too minty and WAY too sweet, it doesn't have much nicotine in it at all, and it is... well, pretty gross. I must say that it keeps its flavor for a long time though.

the "mellow" type is a much better flavor than the frost, so much so that it it works very well as a uhhm, dessert snus type deal. It keeps its flavor for a VERY long time. it gives me wicked dry mouth though, and I wouldn't use it if i wasn't drinking. However, out of the two camel type snus i tried, the mellow is 100x better than the frost.

all in all, swedish snus is better for a buzz. the camel snus keeps its flavor for a long time, but it tends to give me heart burn. So, I would say if you really enjoy snus, go for the swedish, obviously. Mainly because the camel snus is american, and there are MUCH less stringent quality control on it, I didn't like the fact that I didn't know what was exactly in it as I do with swedish snus. that alone will keep me stuck to the swedish snus'.

but, if you have no where near you that retails the Swedish match snus and you really are craving snus, then I would reccomend getting the "mellow" camel snus. It is also worth mentioning that the shape of the portions on the camel snus is thinner than the swedish type, and is pretty good tbh. I would liken it to a mini portion of general.

I like Camel. I'd think of it more as a nicotine infused candy than a snus. No calories... :^)

I like Camel, not as a mainstay but as an every now and then snus.

Out of the American Marketed Snus its the Best IMO.

Sure I still use Swedish Snus but i alternate and get in a camel mood every now and then.

I still think too many people give Camel a thumbs down because its American and I wonder if they changed the Label , put made in Sweden , and put a different name on it some of those people giving it flack would like it.

            Mental, its all mental.

Me gives it thumbs-down because it tastes like artificially sweetened iced tea.

I don't mind them. if I didn't have anything else I could use them for sure.

Now my wife on the other hand, loves the hell out of em. It has helped her quit smoking so its got its uses!

I've tried all the Camel snus varieties. The best so far is the Mellow flavor, but that isn't saying too much. The syrup flavor isn't the best thing in the world but will do for Americans looking for a tobacco fix. The one complaint I have is the nicotine delivery. Even though the nationally launched Camel snus has 8mg of nicotine per portion, the pH level is very low. A higher pH level free-bases the nicotine in tobacco to make it easily absorbed through the mouth. If R.J. Reynolds tweaks the Camel snus formula and raises the pH, their product might actually help smokers quit their habit. As of now, Camel snus is being marketed as a cigarette replacement. They wouldn't want any of their smokers to quit completely, since snus is more expensive to manufacture than cigarettes.

as I said earlier I believe, the Camel snus also has less stringent quality control than the swedish snus... I like the fact that I can look at my can of General and see the ingredients.

That's because Sweden had snus classified as a food substance, right, so the law requires all ingredients be disclosed? I don't think Camel would ever allow that to happen to their product in the States. (And I agree, I think it's great to see a list of ingredients.)

I finally figured out what the Camel Frost tasted like to me. Spearmint Trident gum. Considering I could barely get a good nicotine hit off the mini pouches, I wonder if I could get the same effect just by keeping a wad of gum in my upper lip.

the mellow is acceptable(I liked spice as well). I never thought the nicotine was weak like other people, I do agree there might be alot of bias among the swedish snus users.

that said, "syrup" is a great way to describe the mellow flavor. They should just follow their own lead and make a maple syrup flavored snus. how american is that? I'd use it

yeah, they dont have to disclose anything in the states, so god knows what they are putting in there. lol

I used the mellow today...I honestly have to say that I still really like it. If I used it often, I would defiantly get sick from all the sweetness. Tastes like candy...no tobacco flavor at all!

I think camel is a bit messed up though. They so obviously market their products to teens. I mean camel snus frost tastes exactly like spearmint gum....and those camel crush cigarettes. Come on....no one over the age of 20 would smoke those, except to try them out. They market tobacco like its candy. Kind of BS if you ask me.

BAT seems to know how to do things right, they have Pall Mall, Lucky Strike, which both taste like real tobacco. Also BAT test marketed Kool snus in Japan. That's one thing missing right now, a menthol snus from BAT. I'd like to see them bring out Kool snus.

If BAT can get it right why can't RJR? I have got to believe Camel's lack of nicotine kick is an effort to keep people addicted to cigarettes so they have 2 revenue streams, one from snus and one from cigarettes.
