    Skruf Stark Lös

Through a trade on the forums(thank you Kanlee :^)), I got a tin of Skruf Stark lös, as well as a few other brands I've had before. I've avoided getting the Skruf lös, due to my experience with the portions. I always thought they were /ok/, but just didn't suit my tastes in snus. That always disappointed me a bit because I liked the tin, and I prefer getting the smaller brands where possible.

I've gotta say, I dig the flavor of the lös a good bit more than the portions. It has very little salt(a detriment in my book), and a flavor that strikes me as being similar to a cigar. I like that a lot, and haven't really tasted anything else quite like it. I don't remember getting that flavor from the portions.

Now here comes the big *but* (_._) :^P

The strength really kicks my ass. I get a bit of throat burn, and get a weird feeling in my chest that makes me feel like I'm going to hiccup, but don't. I've only had one pris from the tin, but as it stands now, I don't think I'll get it again. It's just a bit too strong for my liking. If they released it in a regular strength lös, I'd pick up a few tins per order(sub roll buy). I highly recommend at least 1 tin to try for the flavor, especially if you like stark snus. You can definitely feel the nicotine in this one.

Ironically, given my love of Thunder, Skruf stark regular portions were always a bit *too* much for me. I have found myself tolerating the whites much better, i imagibne that is the slower action of the whites working. But the regulars just made me feel like i was punched in the face.

Thats too bad. Well I'd take it if you didn't want it.

Or you can put it back in you're purse next to your tampons.

You know I can’t help wondering if there is something else (maybe the Ph level or one of the flavorings they use) that is causing this reaction. I know Skruf is stark but I found that Prob hit me a lot harder than Skruf ever did. Also, lxskllr if you snuff and snus at the same time, I imagine that you exceed the Skruf level of nic doing so.

I wonder how much of our different tolerances, reactions, and preferences find their explanation in different processing methods and ingredients rather than simply in the nic level.

When I first started using it early on in my snus experience, and would put in a largish pinch, it didn't make me feel sick so much as REALLY tired, and a little bit dizzy. I absolutely HAD to lie down and go to sleep. No choice. After four or five of these over the course of a couple of weeks, it didn't affect me like that anymore. Two strong portions will do this to me now. And one pinch of Thunder will make me sleepy and irritable.

Anyway, doesn't Skruf come in a regular, non-stark loose?

I've wondered that myself. V2s snus' hit me harder than standard snus, but they have the same nicotine content on paper. Probe's a little stronger than standard snus(10mg per g), but well short of Skruf Stark. This Skruf is the first time I've felt nicotine in awhile, but I don't typically use stark snus. I have the occasional Onyx and Probe, but that's about it.

I don't think so. They have a standard portion, but oddly, no lös... At least not at the Swedish web shops.

I hope you realised my comment was a joke. I just really wanted to say that to someone!

But as for me, I'm a total snus wimp. I don't even like onyx that much....too strong for me. And I really don't plan on trying any stark portions. The original portions along with regular los, with a small pris.

It's odd about the comment about being sleepy with a strong snus. This is the same for me. I love a cigarette before bed, or a portion of snus. It gets me tired and fades off, just as I fall asleep. I'm sure you all know, but they say nicotine is a depressant in high dosed, and a stimulant in low doses. Such an odd substance.

                        HAHAHaa

                        On the nicotine discussion.

I love me some Skruf stark loose.

For some reason as much as I love the flavor I don't use it often. I tend to have a can now and then as a treat. I don't know why.. It's not super expensive or hard to get.

I have a fine line between getting my fix and getting drowsy myself too. I chainsnus when I really want a cigarette and can't have one. Then the carry over after I spit out a portion can sometimes push me over the edge.

I haven't had a killer nic buzz in a while, but I have felt the urge for a snus nap.

Skruf Stark Los is one of my favorites. The flavor is 100x better than the portions. The nicotine hits comes on pretty smooth for me, but I'm used to the strong varieties. By the way, I just got some General Ekstra Sterk Los in the mail and I'm enjoying my first pris. It definitely has a good amount of burn to it, which I like.

lxskllr, glad you finally tried the Skruf Los. As you well know, those of us who love it swear by it. It still remains my favorite los without a doubt. Let us know what you think after a smaller pris. I definitely use a smaller pris of the strong varieties, either because I love the taste and don't want to get smacked upside the head, or because I feel like a small pris at the time. I favor Skruf for both the taste and consistency -- it's one of the los brands you can really mess around with id you want, ie moving it around, reshaping it with your tongue, that kind of thing. The kind of thing I would never try with this pris of Gottlands Gul in right now... Anyway hope you come to enjoy it more. And they don't make Skruf Original los, unless there's something going on in Sweden I am unaware of...

Interesting. I've always for some reason held the assumption that there was a regular Skruf loose, something I could turn to if I ever wanted to decrease my nicotine but keep that great taste. So much for the reliability of assumptions. LOL

Imperial Tobacco is the parent company of Skruf (pronounced 'Skroof' and Knox brands of Swedish snus. Skruf is probably the second most popular snus brand in Sweden and one of the top most popular snus brands in the growing American market.

Skruf was started by two life long friends who saw an opportunity to make a big future for a small product - Jonas Engwall and Adam Gillberg.

Life long friends and entrepreneurs, Jonas and Adam, sat down in 2001 to discuss how they could use their skills gained in the world of finance to build a business in an area they were passionate about.
