    Camel Snus is crap

I live just south of Austin and athe Marlboro Girls (chicks in bright red that get you to sign up for their mailing list) came to one of the bars and were passing the stuff out. ITS SHITE. I'm glad I did a little research and found the real snoose. I've been impressed with stark skruff strong portion. I jut bought a lot more flavors and got and Icetool too! Ready to try the loose now.

The refrigerated Camel displays for their incarnation of Snus have been in gas stations here in KC for about 2 weeks and today was the first day I had seen them stocked. I am really anxious to quit smoking so I bought some to work on while I wait for my real Snus (from northerner.com and buysnus.com).

I would probably use the Camel stuff because IMO it tastes alright, but I have serious doubts that it stands next to the Swedish Snus in quality and purity. I can't wait until my shipments arrive!

 I agree - as cool as Camel may try to make themselves sound, I doubt they can touch pure Swedish quality.

I remember seeing on the side of the Camel tins "made in Sweden" or "product of Sweden". I guess they outsourced it? Anybody know who the actual manufacturer is? Just curious........oh yeah, tried Camel Frost (I think it is called Frost) a couple of months ago when a friend gave me a tin. Not bad, but close to mini size pouchs with a high price tag don't blow my hair back. Okay in taste department, but nobody is missing anything special.

Did you try it when it was still in initial testing?

The 2 tins I have on my desk (1 original, 1 spice) just say "tin made in china" on the side, but no indication of tobacco origin...

Yeah, my friend bought a pack of Camel smokes and they gave her a can of the snus, so I ended up with it. It was the round tin.

Wow, that's funny... I had read that the original tins were round (they are now shaped more like an altoids tin (i'll post pics tonight for those who haven't seen the new tins). I wonder if they we're just packaging someone elses Snus untill they decided to go national with it...

And on a side note, I have tried both Spice and Original flavors. Spice is horrid, it is such an overpowering artificial flavor it makes me feel sick. Original is ok, it gives the nic fix but lacks any real flavor after about 1 minute of use.

British american tobacco (B.A.T) manufactures camel snus, they are also the producer of lucky strike.

Do you have a link to your source by any chance? I'm curious to read more?

Any info on the manufacturing processes used on Camel Snus?

I just called Camel Snus, the lady on the phone told me that she doesn't have a definate date for when they will be releasing it nation wide, and that they hope to be getting it out nationally within a year. Funny thing is when I called last week they said it should be shipping out to PA at my local gas station any time or at the end of the month, and that in PA they are only going to be selling it at Sheetz stores. I guess she lied.
The worse part is I thought I could hold off on ordering snus until then, now I'm screwed and need more snus. Damn you Camel.

I had called Camel about the release date of their Snus here in KS, reason being, all of the gas stations around here had the refrigerated displays but no expected date for when they get it in.

Camel had told me within a month of the displays popping up they should be stocked, but couldn't give me a real date. Low and behold, I stopped by a gas station the next morning and they were filling the Snuserator.

This may be hard to find. Even with Swedish snus-brands, particular informations are mostly unavailable.

The good thing about Swedish snus is, that every single brand has to conform with the Swedish food legislation, which means, that no chemical crap can be used to "upgrade" the tobacco.

I definately had enough of addiction-enhancing or pain-killing chemicals, that are used in cigarettes. Instead, I very much like the way, snus works.

Overall, I wouldn't have a problem to try snus, that's made by a cigarette company, and Camel-snus really sounds appealing to me, since Camel was my favorite cigarette-brand, but I've come to the conclusion, that I will only try it, if it also is on sale in Sweden, which means, that it's "crap-free".

Yeah, I've already tried Lucky Strike snus and it is a very good snus-brand, so there's no reason to have a prejudice.

                          Cheers.

Wow, so that article actually clears up all of my questions about Camel Snus' "quality" levels in comapro to the highly regarded Swedish brands. I am still looking very much forward to receiving my orders from northerner.com and buysnus.com, but it is releiving to know that I can 'safely' fall back onto the Camels if need be.

They should really mark the Camel tins "product of Sweden", I think it gives much more credibility.
