The guy at Getsnus is wrong, and I suspect he is telling you that as a lame way to imply that having snus shipped from Sweden s bad. I have been ordering from Sweden for over 2 years, this will be my third summer. i live in the South. I have had snus delivered when we have been above 95 degrees for a week, and it NEVER has caused an increase in ammonia smell.
Granted, 98% of the time, newly arrived snus goes straight to the freezer, Abd even snus I plan on using right away will sit in the freezer at least an hour. but that is more just cause I like cold snus.
Just curious, how far out s the use by date on those two that smell. My guess is it will be a while. As others have said, ammonia smell is related to how recently the snus was made. The newer it is, the more you will smell. Again, same thing happens in the snuff world
