The guy at Getsnus is wrong, and I suspect he is telling you that as a lame way to imply that having snus shipped from Sweden s bad. I have been ordering from Sweden for over 2 years, this will be my third summer. i live in the South. I have had snus delivered when we have been above 95 degrees for a week, and it NEVER has caused an increase in ammonia smell.

Granted, 98% of the time, newly arrived snus goes straight to the freezer, Abd even snus I plan on using right away will sit in the freezer at least an hour. but that is more just cause I like cold snus.

Just curious, how far out s the use by date on those two that smell. My guess is it will be a while. As others have said, ammonia smell is related to how recently the snus was made. The newer it is, the more you will smell. Again, same thing happens in the snuff world

They are both dated 8/21/09. Is that pretty new? They are not all bad smelling. Im destroying this can of Ettan today.

STOP SMELLING THE SNUS...it goes in your lip!!! LMAO, someone once told me that, I'm just passing on the advice, lol.

Dude, Ettan los was my first and still favorite los. I try a new flavor of los snus every order, and some are really good, but I keep coming back to Ettan. I lost my los virginity to her, that may be why I love her so..

I talked to a guy at getsnus and he said that happens sometimes when they stay hot too long in transit. bummer I am gonna re-order the general and skruf from getsnus and see if the shorter transit time makes a difference.

Apparently it is also a good idea to let them cool in the fridge before opening them after you get them.

As a test, I have the general just sitting open here for the last hour and it just reaks. Im gonna let it continue to set and see what happens
I would think what you were told from Getsnus is totally backward.

I have a long history of smoking cigars before coming to Snus.
Ammonia smell meant the cigars were to fresh (bad for cigars, good for Snus). Aging and heat curing the tobacco got the ammonia out of the cigars.
So if anything, if the Snus had traveled to long in the heat, I would think that would make the Snus smell less like ammonia, not more.

And don't let the smell put you off anyway. We'd pick the best tasting cigars by how bad they would smell. The cigars that smell the most like the inside of a horse staple that hasn't been mucked out in years were the best tasting.

I usually order through getsnus. Even with the shorter shipping time, the product arrives warm. I'm in Arizona afterall and we are well over 100° daily now-a-days.

Eh, I got mine in and ripped into the can and popped one in. It was warm from sitting in the mailbox all day but it was still good. I threw them all in the fridge/freezer after that one portion though.
