Camel Original (Swedish variety) mini Review

I just got my order in, and I decided to try out Camel's two new Swedish style snus. So far I have only tried the original.

First, snus companies should take notes on these tins. They are beautiful, and I love the flip top lid. To make the presentation any better, they would just have to do the star packaging like General Sterk Portions do. I am not a big fan of the sloppy thrown in a can look. I usually am anal enough to take them all out and organize them in the pattern myself.

Smell? Maybe I have a weak sniffer but all I smell is straight tobacco with a very slight windex hint (nothing that put me off like most V2 products do). The bergamont (sp?) thing though is no where to be found for me, but I will admit that I have no actual idea what that smells like.

It is a little flowery, and if I had to compare this to anything it would be an extreme mellow version of Skruf stark portion (not the white). Or possibly General.

Not a heck of a lot of flavor for me though. This is a snus that I would not turn down, but that I don't think I would buy again. There are too many that I like a lot to use something I don't really have any strong feelings towards.

So, all in all, not bad, just not great (or at least good enough to purchase again).

I will applaud them though on making this a true Swedish snus though, and not that candy they try to push on us here in the US. And MAJOR kudos on the tin.

As has been mentioned before. Two completely separate companies. RJ Reynolds sold the international rights to the name Camel. So the Camel here is made by RJ Reynolds. The Camel you have was made by the company (I forgot the name) that owns the international rights to the Camel name.

I have two cans in my freezer. I like mold snus, especially when paired with another snus that has a strong flavor so looking forward to trying these.

JTI (Japan Tobacco International) markets Swedish Camel snus. They also market Gustavus snus. Both brands are manufactured by Gallaher, which was bought out by JTI.

OK, so sage can't type. Mild snus!!!

While I am here, I will add mt thoughts about the new Camel.

            I love it!!!!!

I have just tried the regular so far, still have a can of White in my freezer.

So some folks don't really like mild snus, I can dig that. But I seem to really prefer it, at least most of the time. Probably my favorite snus is Retro White, which is as mild as they come. I think Camel will become a regular addition to my rotation. The regular is one of the only regulars I can really tolerate, other than Pall Mall.

If you always want a really strong flavor, this isn't probably for you. But if youa re a fan of Pall Mall, you will love this. And the can is very elegant, one of the nicer one's out there.

              Agreed sage,

Camel (JTI), Pall Mall, Retro all have that basic tobacco taste. Nice break from the citrus and flavored snuses.
