teeth whitening toothpaste - do you guys use it?

i recently saw somewhere online that they advise snus users to use a teeth whitening tooth paste. i always have anyways, but i was wondering do you guys use it to? if not, do you notice a difference snus makes on your teeth? i'm curious.

I used Longhorn for about 3 months. The dentist had a fit. Then I started using snus. Probe, among some others, was a real problem. Well, I read in Consumer Reports that one of the best whitening toothpaste was Ultrabrite. It costs about $1 at Family Dollar or Dollar General. I used it only at night and got rid of all my stains. It works much better than the $3 tubes of other better known brands.

I just use baking soda. It seems to work pretty well. I worry about the spaces in between the teeth a little but I floss a few times a day at work, so hopefully that helps. My teeth are ok looking for a guy that has smoked forever and drinks coffee all day.

I find it helps keep staining at bay along with regular scale/polishes at the dentist. Was recommended to me on here.

I use it often. My wife hates it when I smile and she can see a stain on the teeth from my canine back. As long as I use the tooth paste, I don't get yelled at.

I don't. Mainly because I haven't been totally convinced about the effectiveness.

Some of the research that I've seen suggests there that it may only be effective to keep your teeth white after some other whitening procedure, while other suggest it is more effective than normal toothpaste at removing surface stains

If your teeth are white already it may be good at removing extrinsic stains. If your teeth have intrinsic stains (as a lot of ex-smokers do) then it won't make much difference.

I'd rather suggest purchasing a Sonicare toothbrush. I bought one a year ago and I haven't looked back. No problems with staining and it prevents you from brushing too hard (which can lead to gum recession).

Also as mwood72 said, a regular visit to the dentist and a quarterly clean by a dental hygienist should do the trick.

I can attest to that recommendation as well. My teeth are always white, even after using snus all day. However, even the lower end models cost over $100.00

                Good to see another fan

I think there are quite a few people here on the forum who are addicted to their Sonicare

I agree that they are very expensive but to me its the Icetool of the toothbrush world. You can get along without it but once you own one you don't ever want to part with it...

I agree with the sonicare comments. It's worth the money.

I checked out the sonicare. I might pick one up. I wouldnt mind have the one that tells you if you are pressing too hard. Im always worried that I brush too much or press too hard so I use the softest brushes.

Ex heavy smoker, ex america dipper, full time coffee drinker. Teeth were never THAT bad at any time. Brush twice a day and use those fancy ass floss picks every day as well as well as mouthwash. Whats worked for me is.

use Rembrandt paste and Act mouthwash

I also use the Sonicare with Ultrabrite. But today is my first day on real snus. General original portion stained my teeth after one portion. I think I'm going to throw it out and move on the the white. I won't be able to quit smoking on this stuff if it's going to brown my teeth so badly.
