Nicotine Delivery - Snus vs Dip

I have noticed that the nicotine in snus hits me harder than it used to with Copenhagen.

My first snus purchase was tentative - I didn't want to buy a bunch of stuff I might not like, so ordered just two cans, one of Nick and Johnny and one of Skruf Stark. Well, the stuff was great and I immediately ordered more of the same two brands.

Anyway, I chose these two because of the higher nic content. Both are comparable to Copenhagen (I didn't want to jones for nicotine either during my little snus experiment).

My first pris made me dizzy as hell, which was a plus. I had to sit down. I felt sort of giddy and warm. I never had this happen to me with Copenhagen (I was a daily user for 20 some years), except back in my teens when I was starting out - it was accompanied then by physical illness as well, thankfully absent from my first pris.

While the dizziness is no longer as extreme, I always seem to get a little head buzz off these two brands which supposedly have about a half an mg of nic less than Cope.

Could it be my upper lip? It's virgin territory, you know. Or do you think snus is simply a more efficient nicotine delivery vehicle?

Which brings me to my second point....Ettan arrived and dove in. I love this stuff, more than either N&J or Skruf. It is simple and satisfying and I use it without thinking, just like I did with Cope...and it has LESS nicotine.

It seems I am getting the perfect nicotine hit from Ettan at 8 mg, just like from Copenhagen (which is at 11.5-12 mg) and too much of a hit from either N&J and Skruf (10-11 mg).

    Thoughts?

I would especially like to hear from reformed dippers out there.

I don't tend to get such a heavy hit off of snus as compared to the Copenhagen/Grizzley I used prior. Only maybe a strong kick if I haven't snused over a long period (like 24 hours). Snus seems to be much more subtle to me than Copenhagen. With Copenhagen, it always felt like I was mainlining nicotine to my brain. It sometimes felt disabling it relaxed me so much.
Maybe it is the difference in body chemistry...who knows???
      Enjoy your snus!!

        Blackdog,

Yes, body chemistry had crossed my mind. Believe me, it wouldn't be the only area in which I am weird 8) . I still very much enjoy the N&J and Skruf, especially Skruf, but for a no-nonsense on the go got things to do snus Ettan gets my vote.

          Gurn,
I think I may be the weird one. Lots of people here talk about the "nic kick", but I don't really get it compared to American snuff. I am not complaining at all, snus to me is just better in every aspect compared to American stuff -- no spitting, mild/natural flavors, can use portions pretty much anywhere with no one noticing, etc.
I want to try Skruf Stark, haven't had a chance yet....will probably order a can of the loose next time to see how I like it.
          Happy Snusing,
          BD

I predict you'll like the Skruf Stark, Blackdog. It has pretty much nothing but positive reviews all over this board.

I really like it as well. A very subtle, even delicate flavor paired with a muscular, very direct taste of tobacco.

Sheer genius.....and yummy to beat all hell.
