I was just thinking this same thing today. People would think I was nuts if they knew I was on a forum for tobacco. "What the hell do you guys talk about?" would surely be a frequent question. I think part of the reason is that it relaxes people to know other that other people have the same thoughts and issues as them, even if it involves snus. Plus, there are several helpful hints on here that I've already used. It may just be another community to be apart of.

Snus is my hobby, just like guns are I love cruising gun forums, snus is pretty much the same. Nothing like sipping a beer, loading up the ice tool and staying in the loop here at snuson.

I found this forum about a month into using snus. My friend told me about snus who, oddly enough, had only ordered nic-free portions from northerner in his (eventually successful) attempt to quit dip and tobacco altogether. I got my sampler box, and had lots of fun exploring each brand with no outside input at all. Then I found snuson, and it was great to read something, besides the weak descriptions on northerner, about the brands I had not tried. And people were very friendly and informative, and I've enjoyed the site ever since.

I guess its important to note that I have never been a part of any internet forum aside from this. If it was only reviews and noob questions, yes it would get boring real fast. But there is new info about snus and valuable tips and recommendations and advice for everyone here, no matter how long you've been at it. Its the only forum I've ever cared to be a part of.

But I do get your point. It's weird. And I don't advertise to everyone that I'm active on an online snus forum (snu-what? Snoose?). Unless they wanted to hear why.

And another thing, what makes the site a more interesting read is that we are all bound by snus, but divided by damn-near everything else. In my ultra-liberal environment (ever been to seattle?) I don't get to hear first-hand many points of view shared openly on this site about all of the non-snus topics we discuss. I like it.

To be honest this is the first online "community" ive ever gotten involved with. I couldn't even tell you why I enjoy being here so much. I think the quality or people will keep me coming back and at least the "people and world" section will always have something new to talk about. So long term after im done talking about the subtlety and stinkiness of elyxir portions or the wonders of Thunder Frost I can at least come to a place with people I enjoy sharing ideas with and have at least one common interest with.

As far as why have an entire forum on snus? Just look up the recent review with all the sexual innuendos in it. That is worth the price of admission in and of it's self. Sorry I don't have the link handy.

Hey hoss just to answer your questions make sure you go to youtube and watch any good American review of Camel Snus and you will surly learn the proper pronunciation of the word. Hope this helps!

I have been lucky and been involved with many good communities over the years. Ii saw the first ever ad for the Nissan 350Z when it was announced, and found a Z forum that day that I played on for a year waiting to get one. Funny thing was, as soon as I had my Z, I never logged on again.

But I find myself so lucky that I participate now in the two best online communities have ever known. here and my motorcycle forum (www.alternativecrusiers. com. In many ways, i have found both sites to be so similar, at least in the quality of people and the fun have reading both. I have even gotten a few of my friends from there at least check things out here, and one who is now converted to snus.

For folks who haven't partaken in other online communities, you have no idea how good you really have it here. And explains why I can get a bit cranky when I see folks misbehaving here. It is a sanctuary for me, and I will jealously guard it as such.

Getting back to the original topic, I think I know the answer.

Almost each and everyone of us snuses alone. We go to all this trouble, have snus shipped from Europe, and we are like .0001% of the population. I don't know ANYONE who uses snus like I do. When I smoked, all my friends smoked so of course U didn't need an online community for that. But we largely snus alone, so Snuson is simply a way for us to connect with others like us. If it weren't for here, I would have no friends to share my obsession with.

sage you nailed it. I don't personally know a single person who uses snus. Not even one. You are the only people I have to talk about it with. And also my other point, that we are an extremely diverse crowd brought together by one thing that does nothing to define us in any way other than that we love it. So for me, like sage said, I appreciate this as a means by which I am able to communicate with other snusers, and for me, I also appreciate the diversity of opinions and people that I would not otherwise be exposed to.

Maybe it's just me. I haven't been sleeping well, which is why I'm posting at 2 in the morning instead of sleeping... and a change in meds.

But sometimes, just sometime mind you I want to really answer all the questions that people ask by saying....

How do I use an Icetool? If you need instructions for that I bet you also need help tying your shoes.
