i'm quitting smoking and i have been doing copenhagen for 10 days. that dip stuff.

i was totally a chain smoker for 38 years, i was given a sample of this snus. the free camel usa snus they are giving out over here. the mellow stuff.

people, this snus is very good, and i wish to order from sweden. i have read this forum, i have determined i can trust you. so i will ask for your help.

screw the man boob thread, i know you are geeks out here and i am stuck with this camel snus, now, god dammit, this stuff puts copenhagen to shame.

so... i'm gonna ask... when i place my first order on this internet, where should i go? and... for illumination, which flavor should i procure? i'm thinking about $100 worth, and i am one that has always pushed limits to the wall. i like potency.

it's not easy quitting chain smoking, but i have. now i am here.

All have their fans, each has good things going for them. One thing I consistently suggest for Newbies is get a try out box. I usually suggest the "Top10" from Northerner. I just think it is the quickest way to try what is the most popular. I know that Buysnus offers their own versions. And I am assuming getsnus does as well, but have never personally used hem so can't say for sure.


Another option is look at the Top 5" thread, stickied at the top. That thread was created so new folks could browse in pone place and see what everyone's favorites are. you will see many differences un tastes. But some snus will consistently show up on most folks top 5. A good place to start.

thank you, i need guidance in this. this snus is new to me, i need all the advice i can receive. all i know of this is the camel stuff, i can say that in this *point blank* pain of quitting cigarettes, this is a viable alternative. i understand vices, i thank you for your suggestions. quitting these cigarettes is hell, and i think i will stay here for a while. i really haven't researched your response yet, i am new here. but in my looking at snus, i think i have found the place to be here. i think this forum is where i am meant to be, to ask, this is new to me.

the only reason i am here is to alleviate my addiction to cigarettes. to put it bluntly, i am trading vices for my voice. i will need all the input of all the members here, i'm stuck in america and this swedish product is key to me quitting cigarettes.

i don't want people to know about snus, but the jackasses at reynolds are throwing this stuff in my face, and it is a good product. i appreciate any input provided, i trust you people. trust is hard to come by out here, not to mention in the real world.

people, thank you so much. let's keep a lid on this, america is gonna tax the hell out of us *americans* when they discover this. lookit, this is a good thing, this swedish miracle, formula, whatever. i will use this to quit smoking cigarettes. i am familiar with internationally, to each their own. but you swedes kicked some ass on this, it is a good thing, probably like seal blubber to an eskimo.

hahaha, that has got to be THE BEST "new to snus help me" post i've ever read. usually you get a few lines, but this one was pretty good.

i came over from the camel stuff as well. the ones i've found that are best to transition from the camel stuff are -

1. general mint mini - easily comparable to camel frost, but "camel frost done right". a swedish snus with a nice hint of mint, but it's a good "welcome to Swedish Snus" snus. it's not that strong, but it's good.
2. catch eucalyptus - this is stronger than general mini mint, and has a refreshing mint flavor. it also has a slight salty aftertaste, but the more Swedish Snus you use, the more you'll get used to that taste.
3. catch fresh//peppermint - it's the 2nd in their line of 4 snuses for the 2009 year. it's stronger than general mini mint, and has a nice mint flavor to it. the taste is also more Swedish. it's a really great snus.
ALSO - if you can't tell, i like flavored snus. but i will throw in a non flavored one, since you said camel mellow.
4. ettan (white portion) - this is a very mild snus, it's not a fruity one or anything, but it has a great mild tobacco flavor. i think it's a good intro snus.
5. jakobsson's ice fruit - alot of people like this one, alot of people don't. it's hit and miss. i've found it to have a really nice fruity flavor to it, along with a slight salt taste to bring out the flavors of the fruit in it. it's a strong one, so i wouldn't suggest it to be your first, but i'd put it in your first order.
6. goteborgs rape (i suggest trying the mini portion first) - this is a really great snus. it has a mild fruit flavor, and a distinctive Swedish flavor. i didn't like this one at first, but it's grown on me. it's really good.
7. gotlandssnus (green portion). this is a really good, earthy flavored snus. i suggest trying it with a green tea the first time, it'll rock your world. it has a slight flavor of fig in the background. check it out.

don't smell the snus. don't comment on the smell. we all know what it smells like, you'll get used to it as well. when you open a can, just put the snus in your mouth until you're used to the snus. trust me, it'll happen.

I smoked for 38 years, started at 14, stopped at 52. When I quit I was a chain smoking fool up to 3 packs of Marlboro Reds a day.

Once you get the Swedish snus, it will not be hell. Even a fool like me that smoked 3 packs a day had instances where he had to lay down because he had a wee bit too much nicotine. Don't even worry about quiting, the snus will slowly grab hold of you and you will lose your desire to smoke.

Northerner and Buysnus are the best sources because they have the widest selection. But being in Sweden it will take normally 1 week to 10 days to receive your orders.

Do NOT spend the extra money for UPS it's not worth it and you might get charged extra by UPS for processing your order thru customs. Just use Swiss post or Swedish Post and you won't have to deal with any extra customs fees.

Getsnus doesn't have the widest selection yet, their advantage is they are in the states. If you are in a hurry and they have what you want they are great.

Top 10 from Northerner is probably your best bet

Totally the best and least comprehesible noobie post to date. I like your style chris. For beating cigs, my suggestions are Odens original extra sterk (strong) and General extra sterk. And skruf stark. In my opinion these 3 have the hardest and quickest nic hit out there. Also, as suggested previosly, thunder. The latter has lots of vitamin N but comes on slower and lasts a long long time. For someone really struggling to stay away from cigs, I say go straight for the heavy hitters. Others will disagree. Some people don't like the super strong snuses. Personally, I love them. Cheers and welcome to snuson!

welcome to Snuson! That was indeed an interesting post. If you're going to spend a $100, make sure and try several different flavors and types of snus.

Northerner.com is in my opinion the best place to purchase from. They have a great selection, and on average the best prices. Getsnus, and Buysnus also do very well.

I was wondering, is English your second language or were you drinking when you posted that, lol?

Anyway, ask all the questions you like we'll answer as best we can. Have fun, because snus will keep you off the cigs. It has me.

I agree with Roo. Choose the strong ones like Odens Original Sterk, General Ekstra Sterk, or Skruf Sterk. They're great for former heavy smokers--believe me.

Don't buy too many of anything until you're sure you like it. I made a mistake when I first started by ordering a roll of General Ekstra Sterk. Fortunately, it turned out that I loved it. Then I went back and ordered single cans of a dozen or more varieties. I'm still experimenting with different brands, but GES is still my go to.
