Odd experience

I threw a new-ish (21-08-09) can of Skruf Original in my bag this morning and opened it when I got to work for my first snus of the day.

First thing I noticed was that the portions were much darker and moister than what I would expect from Skruf. Also, it didn't smell like Skruf at all, but I couldn't put my finger on what it did smell like.

Ah well I thought - its not like it can go off and popped in a portion

You know how when you associate a taste with something but then you get something completely different? Well this was one of those cases. None of the Skruf taste I am used to came through so I got rid of the portion.

I've managed to identify the smell though - Ettan Original portions. Just a lot more musty (and slightly mouldy)

I wonder if it is a bad can?

If it is then its not the end of the world. These things happen.

I was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced anything similar?

Ps: As it was the only can I packed this morning it has meant that I've had no snus all day.....can't wait to get home....

I've never had an off snus of any brand; That's very odd.

Me either. I hope I never do, because the thought of putting something in my mouth that has gone bad or moldy kind of turns my stomach anyway.

I bought a can of Elyxer snus a couple of weeks ago at my local tobacco shop. I got out to the car and popped in a portion without smelling it or anything, my mouth was filled with a musty basment smell/taste...yuck! :? I checked the date and saw it was months past due, even though it was refrigerated I guess it wasn't enough to keep it fresh.

Maybe the bigger issue is why did you have only type of snus with you? I always have at least two tins with me and I usually try it before leaving the house in case I don't like it.

Ummmm.......well its like this......Actually I have no excuse ops:

Except that Skruf is a big favourite of mine and I'd gone through an entire entire roll without any problems (this was the last can of that roll)

I also rarely carry more than one can with me and since I switched to snus (nearly two years ago now) I've never had a bad can.

So I in my view this is an anomaly + bad luck.

I made it through the day though without any nicotine withdrawal symptoms, but was very glad when I finally got home and had my first pris of Skruf Stark.

Packed a can of Gotlands Gul today and it is stellar - as always.
