It's probably my favorite as well. I've only tried a handful though. I can't use it all the time though. I usually bring Grov Black or Gote #2 to work with me and save the Onyx for when I wake up and after dinner.

I have always been a General los guy, but in my last order I got me some General Onyx and I have to say I'm surprised how good it is. This will probably be my weekend snus or when I want a treat

I have a new found love for Onyx myself. I believe it is my current favorite. I really dig the peppery flavor. In all the brands I have tried Nick & Johnny West has a bit of this peppery flavor to it. Are there any other brands with a similar pepper flavor?

I have one piece of advice when it comes to Onyx...don't overdo it! When I got my first cans of Onyx I was in love! It was my go to for about 2 weeks. Then, as Sage is famous for saying(and he ain't just blowin smoke), my tastes changed. I still love it, but I kinda got burned out with the intense flavor.

Don't get me wrong, Onyx is great snus, just too easy to get burned out on IMO.

The first time I tried ONYX it was my new favorite. Not as an all day snus, but maybe once a day. It didn't take long for the flavor to seem overpowering and now I don't order it.

I didn't get it for a while either, then finally tried some again and it was as if I was in love all over again. It really is such a good snus, and so unique. But this time, I had learned my lesson, and I ONLY have one a day, always at night. So I now never get tired of the flavor, plus it lasts almost a whole month cause I am only having one a day. I then skip a month and then get it again.

Every once in a while, will play with a bit more. I take an Oynx, then have like four Retro White, or Lucky Strike white in a row, then another Oynx. The Oynx is always such a flavor blast compared to the others, but then I use the others to reset my palate to do it all over again. I spend a few days playing that game. But even then, maybe not more than twice a year.

Best of all worlds for me now. I get to love Oynx, but I work really hard making sure the flavor never again overwhelms me.

I haven't tried Onyx yet, but it is on my next order. I like the pepper of General but I really am into Ettan Original right now. Nice hints of chocolate with small amount of salt. It was the first time I opened a can and liked it even before I put it into my mouth.

I don't have any problems with Onyxing all the time. But some variety is still enjoyable. I think I know what my "procurement strategy" is going to be from now on:

Onyx: No. 1 (any occasion)
Grov Svart: Great with coffee
Thunder Frosted: Great functionality first thing in the morning, and good for meetings (lasts longer and smells better).
I may like Thunder WG again in the future, but after 30 tins it will take some time.


But basically, I figure that I prefer 11-12 mg snus. 8 mg is not enough, and chain-snusing 16 mg gives me a headache sooner or later. I also like black portions better than whites or originals.

Whats the difference between black portion and portion/white portion? I thought black portion was white portion, but with black bags.

The bag color doesn't mean anything with regards to style. LD Black is a regular portion, Onyx is a white portion. The black portions seem to be softer with a better mouth feel.
