    Snus storage at room temp.

So far, I haven't been bothering to refrigerate my snus. It's been at room temp, all of it opened, and so far after almost three weeks, it's all just fine. What problems supposedly arise from not putting it in the chill box? So far I've had no issues with it whatsoever. :?:

It will just start to get a bit dryer. Maybe it already has but that isn't a huge issue for you. also, regular portions are MUCH more effected than white portions. With whites, you really shouldn't see any degradation really.

That's funny, the majority of mine are regulars. Oh well, I'm happy so far. Now when I start stocking up in preparation for what may be on the way, I'll be going to the freezer with the stockpile!

The longer I use, the less I care honestly. Snus i have maybe one or two a day live in the fridge. And ALL unopened snus is in the freezer. That is just so I can use whenever. I opened a can of Offroad Peach last night (anyone remember that one?) Best by date was more than a year ago, snus was totally fine.

Same here. I have had a couple loose snuses get a bit dry towards the end of the can, but no real issue. My opened cans last awhile as well because of the variety I use.

I thought cold-storage had more to do with TSNA prevention....

Whatever the case, storing at room temp is no problem until excessive heat and humidity become a factor. I spent 10 days in Hawaii last October when my brother did the Kona Ironman (shameless family pride plug), and believe me, with the level of humidity there, my regular portions were HURTIN' toward the end of my stay. I live in the Pacific Northwest where the air is bone-dry in the summer, but still I like the "ritual" if you can call it that, of going to the fridge for my snus while I'm at home. I take 5 cans to work every day and don't worry a bit if I forget to refrigerate them when I get home, or if I go camping for a few days or whatever, no big deal. I'm no fridge nazi, but I do suggest that if it gets humid where you live in PA (never been there), toss those suckers in the icebox in the coming months -- they will be happier there.

Now this I don't understand. Folks refrigerate snus to keep it from drying out, but humidity is bad? :?:

I see the confusion there... Maybe it was the combo of heat and humidity, but it was not good. I keep my refrigerated snus in a ziplock bag, and I have actually found that if left exposed to too much air in the fridge, it actually dries out a little. The way I see it, from my experience, snus dries out the longer it's open no matter where it's stored. Unless you are subject to intense heat and humidity, which obviously does not dry it out, but makes it FUNKY.

I like my snus chilled, and will do as much as possible to keep it that way. If it gets warm it isn't a huge deal, but I like the feel of a cold IceTool, and cold snus.

I have only seen regular portions get "fluffy" after a couple of weeks in my desk. They still taste fine. Ive got a can of skruf that is holding up pretty well.

I have only been keeping the ones I rarely use in the fridge and between work and home I have maybe 7 or 8 cans laying around. I would like for them to be refigerated but Im pretty lazy.

I typically only keep 5 open at max. and I usually don't take them out unless I'm taking them to work or they're almost gone. However once they're liberated, they're out. I've read that others feel that by cooling/uncooling a lot that it dries them out faster.

Well, atleast at me, loose snus still tastes kinda the same, even if it has been in room temp for +week, but everyday its starting to get harder and harder to bake it/use it with icetool.

                            Hi,
I only have 4 cans of snus, which I had recently gotten. I stuck them in the freezer. Is this OK? It seems it varies with the user. I left one out last night, inside the house, with AC. Also these sampler snus' I got from General say it does not need refrigeration, in the foil bag. But then I read of people just leaving them out. Is it OK to keep cans in the freezer? The ones that are open as well, that maybe that day I just am not using? I guess none of it really matter, unless one has a stockpile to keep fresh. I prefer to use the freezer, as it's fairly empty, cold and dry, the fridge is full of stuff. Do these things "go bad"? Should I really be concerned?

Just in theory, is it possible to rehydrate the snus?
