There is a thread for what you dippin/chewin so you're ok
Much as I love snus ... there's something about Copenhagen that deserves a huge slice of respect in the tradition of oral tobacco despite the fact that it may not be as safe to use a General.
100 years ago Snus and Dip were practically the same thing ... they have the same origins

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!
Safe to use as general? Im lost. I popped on here and I see all kindsa snuff ive never even heard of. Had to hit the northerner to see the swedish side of things. I think all tobacco is probably unsafe. But if yall know something I don't...by all means...slap me upside the head and let me know
Btw...im here in East Texas. Out here you're either skoal or copenhagen basically....or some of the other cheaper brands. I gotta admit im curious by some of this stuff you guys are chewin on.

Hi mouth and welcome,
"Unlike dipping tobacco and chew, most snus today does not undergo the fermentation process, but is instead steam-pasteurized. Although steam-pasteurization is remarkably complex, it has the advantages of inhibiting the growth of bacteria that facilitate the formation of tobacco-specific nitrosamines, while preserving the desired texture and mouthfeel of the snus." (from Wikipedia) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snus
I dunno about nitrosamines and all that.I do have some tobacco plants growing here at home but I'm always looking for good snuff. Think ive tried just about everything Copenhagen can throw at me. This general onyx stuff sounds interesting and even though its a little more expensive than some of the American premiums its not a ridiculous out of the park amount of money either. Worth a shot.

Always worth broadening your tobacco horizons, snus is better for your mouth too and much more socially acceptable at times when you can't spit. You can buy general locally in most places in the US now from what I know so start there then start on the amzing journey that is snus. Most dippers find that loose snus fits their needs better, there is also a dippers guide to snus on here somewhere that may be worth checking out.
