New To Snus

Been lurking for a while, first post. Like a lot here, I quit smoking (going on 3 days) with Camel SNUS. I have ordered some real Snus, but have not received it yet, and the suspense is killing me! Just wanted to say hi to all, and thank you for your supportive posts in other topics.

1 can of General Wintergreen from Northerner. I'm trying to order a sampler from GetSnus, but their having problems verifying my age, so I have to call the 1-800 number. Ordered the General on Monday and have not received it yet.

Standard advice here. Give yourself a few weeks to get used to the Swedish snus. First time, it will taste really strange and may not be all that pleasant. There is so much salt, it just assaults you at first. But a week or so, your body acclimates to the salt and you can finally taste what the snus really is all about. So just make sure you stay patient and don't jump to any immediate conclusions.

And good youa re getting a sampler. You need to try as many as you can as soon as possible.

Yea I'm going in to this knowing it will be quite different then Camel SNUS, and I don't ever want to smoke again. I am such a laid back, calm guy when I have nicotine, but without it I'm nervous and pissy. Snus just sounds so wonderful, I'm sure I will love it. BTW this forum has got to be the nicest I've ever been a part of. Everyone is so helpful.

Some people like it from their first try though, personally I did. My whole face went numb Good times, good times.

I've heard stories here about friends (with no nic tolerance) who have passed out from their first snus, which was stark. Of course she probably doesn't weigh more than 50kg either.

I smoked two packs a day, so I doubt I'll pass out lol. I ordered a sampler of general white portion because they were out of the regular sampler. Another question, how do you guys feel about Jakobsson? They have a cheap 7 pack that looks tempting.

I liked the White Sampler. General White has become another favorite of mine. Grov is an interesting taste that I haven't found a comparison to yet but is billed as a straight tobacco flavor, Roda Lacket is another mild berry snus that came to love after a few days, and General Wintergreen is pretty good also. The first time I opened a tin I thought oh man what is this stuff. It took me 7 days to acclimate and now I love the stuff.

A few tips from me:
1) If you place on the side of your mouth and you get a lot of drip or flavor at once and it overwhelms you, push the portion farther to the front, they seem to drip less there.

2) If you try them all at once without washing out your mouth or taking a break between them eventually the taste all blends together and you might miss some flavors that you really liked. I tried one of every General from the sampler the first day and I couldn't tell the difference between them very well.

3) Keep trying different brands and flavors and let us know what you like and don't like and some of the vets can give you good advice on what to try out next.

If you are new to snus you do not want to get 7 of anything.
1 or 2 cans at most of any one brand/flavor until you know what your taste is.
