grov los gave me dip lip

When I tried grov los the flavor was awsome, but after using only once it gave a case of dip lip. I tried it both in top and bottom lip. Happened in both places. I didn't use anything for 2 days and I healed up. Nothing else I tried gave me this problem. I didn't keep it in more than 20 min and i could feel the burn. Has anyone had this happen to them while using.

never with me. that's kinda weird. if i understand dip lip to be raw and sore gums then i had that before i found out about snus, but after i started snus i have never had a problem. and i pretty much chain snus constantly. the grov los has never done that to me.

Grov literally means "coarse" or "rough" so yeah, I can see that. If ever I had that problem it's long gone now.

I'm having the same issue with this can of loose General ekstra sterk I'm going through. It's not so bad if I keep switching sides, though. I have no gum discomfort, it's all lip discomfort. Like actual pain to the point I want to spit it out. It does subside after a little while though.

Don't worry about it, usually goes away after snusing a couple months.

The strong stuff does tend to irritate my lip more than regular.

I went crazy with huge lips of Grov this weekend and I got a little irritated. Was ok the next day. I swear my lip felt burnt lol.

General es is the least irritating to me for some reason. The others I use regularly are ettan, probe, roda, skruf, gotlands, gustavus, and goteborgs. They give me the feeling something was in my mouth but don't irritate me. One pich of grov, small or large, top or bottom, for whatever reason eats my gums up(kinda looks like a blister around one of my teeth.) None of the others do that. I thought at first it might be because of the pinch size i use. More pressure on the gums means more damage but that turned out not to be the case.Don't know why but it just does. Anyway I won't be using this anymore. I have 8 cans a buddy gave me when i started. He said he hated it so I took it(free is free). The date on them is 7-16-09 if anyone would like to trade, I will be more than glad to trade.

I think most people get this if they are new to dip. I personally love putting in a fat dip of griz and feeling that burn.... it hurts so good!

Grov is my favorite, and no problems ever.

General ES los tore my lip up! I regularly use Skruf Stark los and have never had problems. I've been using snus for over a year too! I really liked the General ES though, so I'll just be more gentle with it next time. It is pretty gritty compared to Skruf.

Grov snus is a coarser product than most. If you're moving it around alot in your lip it's probably just chafing causing your lip to swell.

A discussion came up before on the issue of dip lip. You can find it on the thread “A Dipper’s guide to Snus” It occurs on page two. Here is the link

                            http://www.snuson.com/viewtopic.php?...+guide&start=0

Here is my input/take on the matter.

K, sometimes when I fall asleep with a snus in I'll get a bit of salt texturing. But this is NOTHING like the dip lip one gets from American dip. The salt texturing is from abrasion/pressure. Dip lip is a literal chemical burn. Think of it this way: we have all fallen asleep on a quilt, sofa, or the likes and woken up with imprints on our face. Now imagine you spilled acid on your skin. The effects are completely different. In my experience the analogy is exactly the same. With snus it is an imprint. With dip it is a chemical burn.

That said, my experience is with loose. I don't do portions enough to say one way or the other. However, just from reading the forum, it seems that some portion material is more abrasive and irritating than others. But again this would still be a friction/pressure matter and not a chemical one as it is with American dip.

                            Hope this helps.
In short I have never had a dip lip issue per say with Grov (or any other snus for that matter). However, like I posted before, I do get a slight texturing from time to time (like if I fall asleep with a pris in or if I take an antihistamine for allergies and thus have a dryer mouth). However this is largely due to a drying out effect from the salt which in turn causes friction/abrasion on the gums (salvia acts as a lubricant/buffer). I imagine a higher nic content would do much the same.

But texturing and dip lip are completely different. Texturing will abate as you grow acustomed to snus or as other factors change (i.e. no cotton mouth due to sinuses or antihistamines). Dip lip is bad news

I've yet to get any actual "dip lip" from any of the snus i've tried so far. However i've discovered that my mouth will get very sore if i snus catch eucalyptus very much. It's not "dip lip" as i've had that bf from dipping cope and this feels different.I'am not sure what it is as catch is the only snus that does this to me.I've used a number of different portions and los with zero issues. I figure there is just something in the catch that my mouth just does'nt get along with. Pehaps it is possible that grov has something in it that your body just does'nt like.
