    New Snubie

Well, I couldn't find an "introduce yourself" thread (to be honest, I didn't look that hard  ) so I reckon this is as good a place as any to say hi.

    Hi.
    I'm a snubie.
I'm currently snussing (is that correct snusinology?) a General portion. I've not tried any other brands or varieties yet, but I'm digging this stuff. Kinda salty Earl Greyish.

My upper gum is a bit sore, so at this point, I'm wondering if I'm doing it right, but I must say that I'm enjoying the sneaky feeling I get from being places where any sort of tobacco is prohibited.

I'm also enjoying my slowly recovering sense of taste and happy lungs, having laid down the cancer sticks a month ago.

        Welcome to Snuson Motherbatherick

We don't have a welcome thread (why asks the guy with the most posts??) So you did it fine.

As covetousjew said, the gum thing will go away soon. Both physical affects and even taste, don't trust yet. Takes folks at least a week to begin to get acclimated to the salt, but it really lasts up to a month.

So as much as you are liking now?? Be prepared to get blown away as you finally can begin to taste the real snus.

        And welcome again.

Welcome to the forum Motherbatherick and congrats on kicking the cigs. You will find a lot of great folks here with a lot of helpful info and tips. Enjoy the journy that is snus

Also Tom502 I'm glad to hear things are going well for you this second go around. I think that your experiences will be of value to many who have had initial difficulty with snus for one reason or the other. I encourage you to share them in the future.

Well, I am a newbie still, very much so. I do believe it was good to have a drool cup for a few days, as when I 1st tried snus, and the reason I stopped snus back then, was I'd get a sick stomach, which I thought was maybe nicotine at 1st, but someone said it could be the juice, so about 3 days or so, I used a cup, and never felt sick to my stomach. For someone not a usual oral tobacco user, I did get the nicotine feel, but it was not overwhelming. I think now I can retire the cup, or at least I think so based on just now doing a portion without it, and I feel fine. I do recommend having a drink, do most of us keep a drink handy? I haven't used snus without a drink handy yet, that will be the next step.

Oh my.... I guess I am not ready to abandon the drool cup. I've been enjoying snus for a few days now, but I have been using what I call a drool cup. Today I did a portion of Roda Lacket with some coffee, and did not use the cup, and I seemed fine. Now just a while ago, I did another portion, and well, I was feeling nausus. I had this large amount of salaiva continuously building up. It's amazing how much juice a little dry portion can make. But I had to spit it out and almost hurled and gagged. Luckily I found a peppermint candy in my desk drawer. Hmmm, am I the only that experiences this? As I've said before, I don't have much history with snus or any oral tobacco, but I do like the snus more than the others, and apart from the high salt taste, it's the juice I find the hardest to adapt to.

Tom I use loose 99.9% of the time. However, on the occasions when I use a portion, I have found the initial amount of juice to be rather a lot as well. In fact it will often give me the hiccups if I can't spit at least once or twice after putting one in. I found whites to be a little better in this regard and minis and loose to be no problem at all. You might want to give loose a try (get a 2 buck pris master with your first loose order if you do). Or you might just ride it out with the portions until you adjust/acclimate.
