New user here, I've smoked on and off for 15 years or so. I quit a few times, but I just love nicotine.

I broke a couple rules

1) I ordered a roll without trying it first.

2) I bought the general sterk ektsra


I just went back and ordered the two samplers they had at getsnus.com, and the free general small pack sampler

from what I gathered on here, the ekstra is pretty powerful for an all day snus. I was using the US camel snus here, and it wasn't doing anything for me so I assumed most snus were the same potency.

yeah, the ES is strong, but maybe what you need. When I first started using, I soon started with strong for about 3 months straight. But good you are getting others to try out.

BTW, when I was brand new, my second order after the Northerner try out box was a roll too. But I had the opposite problem. Ordered a roll of Mocca Anise, and just not enough nicotine.

Live and learn, it's a grand new adventure for you regardless. :wink:

We all are, but don't overstress it.

I love Northerner's Top 10, my standard recomendation when new folks ask.

But at least you will have plenty of sterk on hand for whenthe need arises.

well got my first order today, my free can was an oden's classic.

I jumped right into the General ekstra being the nicotine junky I am though!

The flavor is fine, the salt is no problem at all and the pepper is a nice taste.

This is definately better than the us camel in flavor.

I still have a while for the nic to effect me, but I'll write more later if its over powering or anything. So far, I'm really enjoying this. I was worried about it being an accustomed taste, but its damn nice.

I get a couple sampler packs on monday, I hope the 8mg does me well, or else I might hang on to them when I want to start lowering my intake

I can't express how surprised I am, the taste is just right. Those worried about the salt, or adjusting.. It might just be a personal taste

oh as a side note, I ordered from getsnus and the exp. date was oct 10 2009 on the roll, not too bad. I don't know what the max is for that sort of thing

My first snus was also the U.S. Camel. I had about half a pack of smokes left and then when they were gone I found a store that sold General nearby and went there the next morning and picked up about 7 cans, mix of regular portions, white portions, wintergreen, and some los.

I then went and nabbed a Northerner Top 10 box and from there I have been enjoying the adventure ever since.

I too smoked for about as long as you, and I have found that one of the best ways to enjoy snus is to use the 8mg portions throughout the day, and here and there throw in a sterk. But there are also days where I chain snus sterks! So, it just comes down to preference, but those habits will come eventually and you will get in a routine. Try not to worry about feeling a strong nicotine hit right off the bat. A lot of times for me it can vary. I can pop in a General Onyx and it will effect me like a regular 8mg portion and then the next day I can pop in a General Onyx and have it knock me off my feet. It's very situational at times in my experiences so far.

I currently have about 50 cans total, with about 42 of them in the freezer. So, needless to say you will probably be hit with the "Omg I must try them all now!" syndrome that most of us here get. Enjoy snusing!

well I'm on my second one, a few times during the first one my mouth would become saturated in salt, but it wasn't that bad. It does help to drink something at the same time. No nicontine rush to speak of really, but I was smoking a little more than a pack of American Spirits a day when I was smoking.

You were lucky to find a store nearby that had some real snus. I don't think they sell it in the specialty tobacco stores here in Downtown Portland yet, but I haven't looked too much.

I was buzzed on some beer the other day and ordered a roll of Claq Qui, and one of the thunder frost. I'm a sucker for discounts I guess. I just ordered the 7 roll of oden's stark cinnamon like 5 minutes ago.

With the samplers and rolls I should find my fav. I'm trying to talk a friend into trying them, she's been smoking for 20 years, so I'll spread the wealth around a little.

I can see the draw towards trying so many flavors and still having a rotation even when you do find a favorite. This stuff is great!
