    Klondike

I tried a can of Klondike that I found at a local smoke shop, and it smelled, tasted, and felt like slightly less harsh American dip. It tasted nothing at all like Swedish snus. I think marketing wise, American snus would have to taste different, but I think the marketing plan should be to implement a spectrum of flavors that transition from something like Camel over to pure Swedish type.

By the way, anyone try the Skoal snus. One hint, don't bother. The tobacco is so dry its crispy, I could detect no nicotine, and the fake flavor strip was overpowering for about 10 secs then went away. M by Mocca anis is the best flavored I've had, and I think it could sell here.

I have an "interesting relationship" with Nordic American....I'm intentionally holding off calling them again until my new Super-Snus website is up. But I will be calling them. I just have to get this site up so I can get back to writing content! and get caught up on my industry reading.

But maybe you can help me: I went from cigarettes to snus...never got into chew. I just got an email from a Copenhagen user who asked me what loose snus he's most likely to like. Any ideas?

      thanks, UNZ

THis came up in another thread -- someone getting off Copenhagen ended up liking General los, felt it was the closest.

Methinks he'd love the Klondike stuff as it is apparently supposed to replicate American dip.

I can, with all honesty, say that there is no snus in existence that tastes even remotely close to Copenhagen.

I love Copenhagen and im kinda disappointed that there isnt just a tobacco and salt flavored snus.

But then again I guess thats why I like snus.

Its completely different than any other tobacco product out there.

Kardus and Ettan are pretty much tobacco and salt flavored. Still don't taste too much like Cope though.

A Cope-tasting snus might be impossible just because of the different processing and I guess an artificial "Cope-flavor" wouldn't be the same.

I came to snus from smoking and after some weeks of use also missed some flavor in snus. Chewing tobacco bits then did the trick for me. They're not at all like cigarette-smoke and also not like Cope but they're maybe the alternation to snus, that some of us might be looking for.

Oliver Twist Original is a very flavorful brand of chewing tobacco bits and though it is not as 'harmless' as snus, it still requires no spitting (unless one has a very sensitive stomach :wink.

Besides of that, I'm sure that Offroad will sooner or later produce a 'Copenhagen Snus'. I'd try the lös for sure.

                Cheers!

From my very limited experience with snus, I found Camel Mellow has no hit at all. I've used Lucky Strike portions and they burn (nicely) when put in the mouth. Camel - nothing.

Use 2 at once. You'll feel it! Too bad the Camel shit is 1/2 the stregnth & $5 a can where I bought it.
My order of General White hasn't come in yet, so IDK how one of those would hit.

Tried Tourney Snus: wintergreen and original. Better than Camel, but sweeter than traditional snus. Also slightly smaller portions than traditional snus (bigger than Camel though) and 20 portions per tin.

New member, so please excuse the late posting. I am/was an American style dip user for 20 years but I never could stand Copenhagen dip. I also disliked Ettan strongly and thought it tasted/smelled similar to Cope. I gave it to a Copenhagen using coworker who loved it and finished the can in short order.

I get a bit of a tingle with the Camel Frost, and a little stronger hit with Grand Prix (Tourney). But that probably has more do do with how casual a smoker I am though. I was an exchange student in Sweden lo these many years ago and used General Portion a little bit, though neither the Frost or the Grand Prix comes anywhere near that. Given that the Grand Prix is something like half the cost of the Camel, maybe I'll stick with that for a while and see if I use the stuff enough to start getting the Swedish stuff online.

My question is, just what is all the "American Snus" available, and where are they available?

I only found Camel at the corner Thorntons gas station.

I went to a Kroger grocery, and they had the cans of various dip, and I asked if they had snus, and the old woman told me no.

I'd be interested to try more "American Snus", but I don't know what to look for and where. I'm in Kentucky, USA.

                                Thanks,
                                Tom
