Oh don't get me wrong. I can kinda occasionally go for the American Camel Frosted snus as I kinda dig the minty flavor albeit I wish it was a tad less sweet. My problem is IT CONTAINS VERY LITTLE NICOTINE compared to the real snus. But then again I'm highly addicted to Sterks and Xtra Starks.

I will revisit them with this new design.. Doubt they will be anything compared to the real Swedish snus but I'll give it a go.
You're not exactly the only one. Camel also introduced me to snus, and I will say that I like the Frost flavor as a mint flavor. But in my case, I'm not a huge fan of mint in general--I like it once in a while, but not to suck on all day--and I generally prefer my tobacco experience to include some tobacco-y flavor. So I used to use a Camel Frost portion occasionally when I wanted a change of pace or to freshen my breath--better than a nicotine-free breath mint!--and now I use General Mint in the same way. When I was using Camel, I primarily used their "Original" flavor, which I liked because it was the closest they had to something tasting like tobacco, and Spice, which I liked because I like cinammon. But when they discontinued Original and Spice and replaced them with the weakly flavored "Mellow" they basically lost me. In the meantime, I had discovered a taste for Swedish snus, and once I learned I could buy General locally, it was really over between me and Camel.

I now can't see myself going without Swedish (or at least Swedish-style) snus, but if Camel still sold Original and Spice, I'd probably still buy a tin occasionally. The new Camel "Robust" flavor/portion size sounds potentially promising--I don't have high expectations, but I plan to give it a try when I see it. If nothing else, as others have noted, it will have a cool tin!

I'm considering buying a tin of mellow to see if it's ok. The last time I used it I liked frost better. I think when they sell this stuff they sell 90 percent frosted 10 percent mellow. What's up with naming the flavors after their old cigarette line anyways with the exception of Winterchill. Do PM and RjR not trust their Conwood/Usstc employees or something.

A lover of Copenhagen Snuff, I tried Camel Robust as a safer alternative to dipping. I found the flavor to be gagging and spit it out after five minutes. Fortunately, having learned about snus via Camel Snus, I found Snuson and did a lot of reading which led me to place a large order for a variety of brands and flavors. I have quickly become a Swedish Snus disciple.

I can see people liking the Camel Snus if they liked the various flavored dipping tobaccos. In general, I dislike strongly flavored tobacco. I guess at this point I am searching for snus that tastes more like Copenhagen Snuff. However, after using Thunder, 02, and Skruf, I tried my old familiar Copenhagen and found it oddly disappointing. I would never go back.

DLB...sadly the ones that you would like best are not available in the US...Taboca, Montecristo, to name two. You might try some Gellivare. I think you can still get that. Landstoms is great too, but a bit more citrusy.

I'm down to two or three cans of Taboca and now I've got to start rationing it...

              Where there's a will, there's a way. Don't give up.

It's just friggin tobacco for christ sake. It's not like you'll be smuggling in heroin or something. Don't let the commie bastards win!

I don't doubt that American snus is generally inferior, too sweet, and too strongly flavored. But I think the market is just going that way, not much we can do about it. I started on American snus, never tried the "real" stuff, and I like it. I think it's better for me because I don't have anything to compare it to, and I can judge it on its own because I don't know what I'm missing. I'm perfectly happy with american snus, personally, since I'm more of a casual snus user. But I certainly wouldn't turn down real swedish snus, especially loose, i just don't see myself taking the time to order some. Maybe that will change.

I could tolerate Camel if they would just put some FREAKIN' NICOTINE in it.

I also was introduced to snus by the Camel "snus" I have to admit I like the frost, I am not a fan of the mellow. I also have enjoyed the Marlboro snus but only the peppermint & spearmint, I didn't enjoy the mild or rich. I don't enjoy the fact the Marlboro snus only comes in 6 pouch packs which makes it very expensive. Today I picked up a tin of Camel Wintherchill to try don't know if I'll try the Camel Robust or not.

Good luck with that. I've never had it.

I just bought a can of the new Skoal Snus Mint. I opened it and was surprised to see how Ginormous the portion was. The odor was not as sickly sweet as Marlboro flavors and appeared to be a soft material. It looks loke a white portion and has the same feel as it once its in. The flavor wasnt as sweet as other American snuses and other than the size I would say it was comparable to General Mint just slightly sweeter than General. On tthe can it says spitting optional but I never had to spit and I kept the portion in for 30 minutes. Overall I was kinda impressed with this American snus... not as good as the real Swedish Snuses but they tried and are getting a little bit better.

so i broke down and tried a can of the newer Marlboro s n u s ( i have to space the letters out, i feel dirty putting the actual word after "Marlboro)". anyway, got it for a little over $1... i paid too much. opened the can and the stuff was dryer than a popcorn fart and honestly... it tasted like cheap pancake syrup... why do i put myself through this?
