Has anyone seen the Triumph snus? It is being brought out by Kent cigarette company and was wondering if it's being test marketed anywhere else besides here in Ohio.

It's a Swedish Match import brought to us by Lorillard tobacco Co.

The portions are nice and moist, not dry like Camel, and comes in mint and original.

I picked up one of each today and by the Snus Gods i love it, but as it is here in the states the retail price will be $4.00 to $5.00 a can. I've never had real Swedish snus before, and if this is the real deal, it blows the american snus out of the water.

If you've had it please let me know what you think.

It sounds interesting. I haven't even heard mention of such a product. Was it sold in a refrigerator?

Add another KC user here as well. Just saw this post on the American Snus. I have tried the Camel ( and seen the litter for Camel all over) and i have to owe it to Camel for getting me into snus. Luckily, I read a bit more about it and found the real Swedish stuff. I don't care for the Camel, I use it in emergencies but really only can do the "Frost" the others have zero flavor and seemingly all have little nicotine. I usually have to do 2 at once to even get anything out of it. The Camel stuff has a nice burn for about 2 minutes then just becomes a slippery pouch that lasts 30 minutes. I use Skruf Stark normally and usually get several hours out of it. In KC I've paid between 4.80 and 5.25 for Camel and i can use buysnus.com for 3.75 a tin with shipping included. Its a shame that more people don't know about the Swedish stuff.

There is a great tobacco store on Main Street in KCMO, they really should try stocking a bit of the swedish stuff. The retailers of Camel I talk to say they're selling a lot of Camel and I've actually had to try 2-3 places to get my emergency stash before. I think KC has a bit of a market for the real stuff, with a little education of the staff at Main Street Tobacco surely they would sell more of the real stuff than the nasty Camel.

Well, I've seen it and tried it; apparently its being test marketed in OH, its not refrigerated (but has comparatively shorter best by dates on it), and as far as I can tell, its fairly close to the real thing. Granted, its a little sweet, but it isn't too awfully bad. The original portions are reminiscent of a over-sweet Röda Lacket.

I know somebody's gonna say something about RL being too sweet to begin with, lol.

Like many others, my starting point was the Camel Snus that I received for free from some Camel representative. I enjoyed it and ended up researching it and stumbling upon the real swedish snus. I intended on ordering some but never got around to it and virtually forgot about the stuff. Recently as I strolled into the gas station and noticed a display for the Triumph, which I purchased on the spot. I'm not sure how it compares to other Swedish snus, but one can assume it's been Americanized a little bit with added sweetness as was pointed out. I hope this to be the case as one of my biggest qualms about the Triumphs was how sweet they were. The portions are far bigger than that of the Camel and the nicotine hits pretty good, again unlike Camel whose nicotine is almost unnoticeable. I recently purchased a couple tins from BuySnus and I can't wait to get them so I can make a true comparison to the "Real thing" and what we are getting over here.

I'm interested for Triumph to make its way here so we can have a medium instead of Camel if we run out of the good stuff while waiting for more.

With the novelty of american snus having somewhat subsided, I've unstickied this thread - any major objections?

Nope, this topic sinking will be a great metaphor for American snus in general.

With most new members coming from America, lately, and many of them finding "The Real Snusâ„¢" by first trying the (obviously miserable) copy, yet getting curious, I'm not so sure.

I think many newbies are in doubt, if Swedish snus, in comparison to the American so-called-snus-brands, is better, worse or the same. This topic helps to clear the doubts. Doing international business is not so common for many people, so I fear, that anyone, who has doubts, will never just make an order and instead some similar new threads will appear.

I think the topic should remain sticky for another while. But I'm not religious about that.

BTW, sorry, I couldn't resist to use one of Craig de Tering's typical stylistic devices in this post.

                    Cheers!

fair enough - it does have almost 6000 pageviews, so someone must be reading it, eh?

Well I suppose I have been reading ...

Just got some of the real stuff, and judging by my selection I'm sure it will be clear to see that I was on a budget. I purchased Knox (portion and loose), General portions, and some Portions of the Elixyr Power Energy (Im sure I wil be ridiculed for this portion of my order, but the notion of sitting in my 8:30 class with something that would both give me a lot of nic as well as some caffeine was too much. PLUS it was pretty cheap.) In comparison to thr Triumph, it's definitely a bit different in terms of sweetness, but the differences just about end there. I believe the Triumphs were white portion, so they are different in that sense, but the smell and taste as well are very similar to that of the ones I ordered. Again, my only qualm is the excessive sweetness that dilutes the snus taste for the first few minutes of using one of the Triumphs.

                          New member here. Greetings.

Here in Indianapolis, Indiana, the product Taboka is still being sold. Perhaps they're still selling it, or maybe they're just in surplus and trying to get rid of it all.

I just bought a unit of it this evening. Cost me $3.75-ish.

After reading through the posts, I don't believe many others have tried it. Or maybe I just missed it. If anyone else has tried it, how does it compare to other snus products?

Of course, this is my first time trying snus, so I couldn't adequately compare it to other products. Right now, I like it better than dip, by far.

"Taboka" in the square box? (I ask because there is a round-tin "Taboca" that is totally different). At any rate, I think the general consensus was that Taboka (the US one) was really small, really sweet, and something that would pass as snus in an emergency  If you like that, then boundless treasures await you in the heavenly world of real Swedish snus! I highly recommend trying the real deal - welcome to forum!

                              Re: American Snus

Camel Snus is made by Swedish Match. I'm not sure what Marlboro would do to the tobacco but all you have to do is look at the shredded tobacco paper product garbage they consider a cigarette. I always smoked lucky strike and camel non filters because they used real tobacco and not tobacco parts ground up into a mash and pressed into a paper.

I tried the Camel snus and it was a sub par snus. It poorly represented swedish snus. It was more expensive and the portions were small and wore out fast. I didn't detect any chemical taste to the flavor but it was similar to the lower brands SM produces in portion.

Sweden should protect the name of Snus just like the French do with champagne. If Americans want to get into the market, They would be wise to just work out a deal to be an exclusive dealer of Swedish made Snus over here. Americans like the fact that their product is made in a Scandinavian country that applies food purity laws to their tobacco. Swedish name brands and quality tobacco would sell here if properly distributed and advertised. Sadly, US tobacco would probably lobby to tax the hell out of it in order to gain an advantage.

Same thing happened to Americans with Coffee. They forced us to drink garbage for years and then came Kenya AA and Sumatra beans. Once Americans have an opportunity to try snus they will surly ditch the schwill and go with the superior product.

Also, I think ex-smokers like myself would have a negative association with cigarette name brand snus. Thats why I will never buy lucky strike snus. It sounds unhealthy. Ettan does not!

I am on my 4ht can of triumph. I like the original, the mint is just too much menthol for me. I am wondering how this compares to the real stuff, but I just placed an order today from northerner.com so I will find out soo. Nonetheless, triumph is made by swedish match, I am wondering if it is one of their regular snuses repackaged or if its a formulation especially for the american market. Anyone whos tried both have some input?

EDIT: Never mind I am a dumbass, didnt see the post above comparing it to Roda Laket
