I've been interested in trying snus since an article about it came through my internets a little while back. When I saw some Tourney for sale at a local Speedway, I picked some up.

I don't generally buy tobacco products. I smoke cigarettes if people give them to me when we're hanging out, and I chew under the same circumstances (usually Grizzly or Rooster wintergreen). I'm painfully insensitive when it comes to most drugs, stimulants included, and I rarely catch a buzz for my efforts with tobacco. That said, I enjoyed the Tourney snus, and really thought it seemed like the best way to consume tobacco. It doesn't hurt your lungs or make you stink like cigarettes, and you don't have to keep spitting like with American chew. I like the flavor, too. Oh, and being able to drink with one in my mouth is a huge plus, as well. I enjoy snus while drinking a cup of tea.

I found out through this message board that a shop near me in Ann Arbor carries Swedish Match products, so I took a walk the other day and bought a can of General portions and some CatchDry peppermint. $5.25 each with tax.

I liked the General a lot the first couple of times, but I'm starting to think I like the Tourney better. Drinking root beer with the General in my lip brings out a pretty tasty tobacco flavor, though. I don't like the faint ammonia smell that's apparent when the can has been out of the fridge for a while.

I haven't tried Camel snus, but the CatchDry is exactly how I imagined it. It's like sucking on a little mint-flavored bag of artificial sweetener. I'm no snus purist, though, and I find it enjoyable, though maybe a bit too sweet. The size is nice, though, and I think I'd like to try some more flavored white mini portions, preferably with some extra strong tobacco. The bang/buck ratio kind of sucks, though, as there is only 6 grams of snus in the can that costs the same as the 24g you get with regular portions. The Tourney is only 12 grams, but it's a couple bucks cheaper (and still my favorite of the 3 I've tried).

      Trip to Boston

I'm off on an overnight trip to Boston from UK in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anybody knew what kind of snus I could pick up there, and where?

Being in UK, I can get the usual decent stuff online from buysnus/northerner, but wanted to try the Camel products and any other US brands - yeah I know that considered opinion says it's s#@t compared to the swedish stuff, but what can i say? I'm making a trip across the pond from Blighty and figured why not try it for myself!

Any reccomendations and/or info would be good - I'm assuming it available in Boston??

      Cheers!

        Hi Zero!

FYI, I put a link to SnusOn.com in my latest post http://theunloadingzone.blogspot.com...ork-to-do.html

I did some Camel snus googling yesterday and visited their site: the mis-information! The Corporate Greed! Wake up, America!

        Sincerely,

I wouldn't get any Camel if you are currently using Swedish Snus. If you want something interesting, get some dip.

I like Camel's Spice snus. Not necessarily as snus per se. Kind of like Velveeta. I know it's not really cheese, but I still like it sometimes.

I am quite fond of the camel spice aswell. I grab a couple cans every time I go to FL. It isnt something I could use all day / every day, but it is a nice treat now and again. Reminds me of christmas time with a hot spiced cider and a clove cigarette

Oh the tragedy of it! My poor, poor, friend..duped by my former hero RJRT CEO Susan Ivey. Camel snus has 15 portions @ 0.6 gr. each (according to their website) Any decent Swedish snus has 24 portions @ 1.0 gr. each. You are paying more money for 9 gr of so-called snus from Camel than 24 gr. of real Swedish snus!

It's not your fault: it's BIG TOBACCO taking advantage of America's ignorance about snus. It's so bad I just wrote an article on it http://theunloadingzone.blogspot.com...work-to-do.htm

Thank you my friend. YES, I know I have strange tastes. He**, I seem to be the official cheerleader for Elyxr for heavens sake, so obviously I'm not fully right. :P

But as Xobeloot said above, I just like the taste. Then when I want a real snus, I pop in a N&J to make up for lost nicotine. But I still like it for what it is.

I have 30 different snus in my freezer. I'm certainly doing my part to support the Swedish guys. But I gotta throw a bit of support to Camel, at least for getting all these stores to except a little snus refrigerator.

Kinda funny. Write a blog about how you feel, but dont try to drag me or any of my feelings into it. I have not, nor have I ever been "duped" by Big Tobacco. I was using swedish snus (and danish snus from v2) for well longer than I even knew that Camel had a snus! I bought a tin of each flavor of camel snus on a random weekend trip to Orlando. I used all three flavors, and in doing so, found that I do like the spice flavor as an occasional-use snus.

I am well aware of the size of portions, how many come in the can, the nicotine contents, how much snus I load in my icetool, what flavors and brands I like and/or dislike, the color of my eyes, the size of my shoes, my favorite toppings on pizza, the fact that my punctuation sucks... Get my point?

Dont feel sorry for me "being duped" for something I am not sorry about just to fill your blog with your anti-camel snus propaganda. How easily you forget about the fact that it was Camel snus that brought you here to us.

So please Mr. Unloadingzone, choose your words wisely. You basically called me an idiot. Disregard to the fact that I have well more time with snus under my belt than you, as do many others who grace these boards because of a stepping-stone known as Camel snus. There is nothing wrong with enjoying products that other people dislike. Hell, liking stuff that others dislike is a huge part of my presence here on these forums
