I got some Swedish Discreet from Tom (American Snus Tom), and greatly enjoyed it. That and Root Beer are two of my favs IMO.

Curious news from warehouse here in TX...

So, my friend, also alarmed at the absence of Camel Frost in stores, found out from a store owner why Frost may be disappearing from a store near you: seems like Camel has jacked up the price on Frost to $4 a can WHOLESALE, forcing the retailer to charge upwards of $6 (eventually) per can. Not really sure what they're thinking, as I don't think there are enough people that like this so much that they would pay $6 a can. Perhaps it's in anticipation of the PACT, knowing full well that locally available snus is the way most people will go, if not return to cigarettes completely. Don't really know what the strategy is, but if someone can corroborate this or offer insight, I'd be much obliged.

I sent an email to the Media Relations guy, I've spoke with him in the past for something I was writing for the website, so hope to hear back soon.

          Camel pricing

I am quite sure that Camel pricing has been artificially low the past two years. Coupons and retail giveaways have been part of the overall national launch strategy to get smokers to try the products.

The US industry as a whole has also been negatively affected by the low prices. I think companies like Nordic American, Liggett/Vector, Lorillard, and even PM and SM, have been waiting for RJR's promotional activity to switch over to a regular pricing model to establish their own brands in the segment.

The key was to get through the latest national excise tax increase in the Spring, wait, and see if pricing would affect snus sales.

Could be an interesting year for snus domestically (in the USA).

            Camel snus is beyond disgusting

I just recently discovered snus while doing some online searching to figure out a way I could still use nicotine but not smoke cigarettes. I was so stoked to discover snus and it sounded just up my alley. I immediately put in an order with getsnus.com for some General regular portion. Then I thought, hmmm.... instead of waiting a few days for my shipment to arrive, why not try the Camel snus even though, from everything I've read, it sounds sub par.

Bad idea. I so wish this had not been my first experience with snus. Camel snus is beyond sub par. It may well be the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth. I tried both the mellow and the frost but all I could taste was an overwhelming blast of aspertame and underneath that just the barest hint of a slightly salty tobacco taste.

From what I understand, Swedish snus actually tastes like tobacco. I can't wait to try it when my shipment arrives tomorrow. I'm 99% sure I'm going to love it. Until then, I'm slapping on a full strength nicotine patch. I'd actually rather use the patch than have to taste another one of those gnarly Camel things. That's my review.

If PACT happens soon, I will NOT pay the price for the Camel products. I will just quit. It is nuts, 15 pouches for $4+..no thanks.

If snus becomes unattainable domestically I'll find out how to make my own.

A sure fire way to ruin a good thing it to get the government involved.

Got some coupons in the mail today for 4 free packs of Marlboro "snus" with any marlboro purchase.

Had to convince the girl at the tobacco store that me buying 1 pack of it was technically a "marlboro purchase". So, 5 packs (30 portion total) for $2.25. Roughly the same as a can of cheap snus.

It's not great, but I'm not gagging either...

If you "had" to, you can use an American dip pouch upper lipped, Bandits are small. Like snus it would take a little getting used to, but it can be done. I've done it, and upper lipped, I did not need to spit.

But I don't forsee Scandinavian snus being unavailable.

I like snus mainly for work, and going out. Places I would feel it not appropriate to have a spit can, because really, I think I enjoy loose leaf chew more than anything.

I was wondering when someone was going to use the popular snus guy pic as an avatar.

Thought it would be a good avatar for now...... don't have time to spend making one yet. It will work for now unless someone else in here has it then I will put something else up.

Dude! That was the best written rant I've seen on here. I agree 100%. Cheers!

I think it'd be good, if a big name brand made a real snus, I think Red Man could do it.
