@ ponysoprano: Triumph is easily available around me, maybe we could work something out. I'll find out what the best price is near me and let you know. IMO though, it's a "real" snus, but I think the flavor has been massaged for the American market. It has a really powerful flavor and lots of juice. Also the flavor tastes sweetened (think skoal straight, maybe). I don't think it's for me, but some guys really love it (e.g. PremiumParrots...).

Here's a website where you can buy Triumph snus if you are really interested. I don't know what the shipping rates are though.

1. You only get 9 grams of American snus (about $4.00) vs. 24 grams of Swedish snus (about $5.00 after shipping charges)
2. THERE IS HARDLY ANY NICOTINE!!!
3. The flavor (in my honest opinion) tastes very artificial and does not even compare to the quality of genuine Swedish snus.

My snus experience
Let's see where do I start. I'm 29 and have been smoking for 10 years. I got tired of smoking, of stinking, of having to take "smoke breaks". My friend got 2 camel snus coupons and gave them to me. Smokeless and spitless appealed to me. The frost camel snus tastes great to me, although I have to put in 2 pouches to get a nicotine buzz. It is overly sweet though, but I'm a candy freak and liked it.
Fast forward, I bought some swedish snus from northerner.com I had no idea what to expect since the descritiions on the website are lacking, and most people don't put a detailed review of how the snus tasts. Well I tried Roda Lackett, and it was salty as hell and I didn't taste any licorice at all. Then I tried the skruf cranberry and it is supremely good. I have never liked a pure salty tobacco taste, but slowly I am getting used to it. I bought 7 cans of different snus and can't wait to try them all. So far so good, and no complaints. I will buy the camel snus now and again though.

Originally posted by snusjusI personally like the shape of Camel portions. The cylinder shape keeps it in very well. Like I said, RJR needs to make Camel snus in 1 gram portions!
Just what size are the Camel Portions anyway? They look like to me they are "in-between" the mini size and the original size, like 3/4 of a gram.

It's a Swedish Match import brought to us by Lorillard tobacco Co.
The portions are nice and moist, not dry like Camel, and comes in mint and original.
I picked up one of each today and by the Snus Gods i love it, but as it is here in the states the retail price will be $4.00 to $5.00 a can. I've never had real Swedish snus before, and if this is the real deal, it blows the American snus out of the water.
If you've had it please let me know what you think.

EDIT: Never mind I am a dumbass, didnt see the post above comparing it to Roda Laket
There never was an "American versus Swedish" taste issue until the year or so now that Camel has been test-marketing long enough for people to become regular users.
For new snus users, RJRT is trying to redefine the base-line taste of snus as very sweet and very mild. I lot of emails and comments I've been getting in the last 2 months are from people who find Swedish Snus "too strong" or "not sweet enough".
In reality, Swedish Snus is what snus is supposed to taste like. The American brands are candy-sweet and too mild to tasteless in tobacco.
The thing is with tobacco products, the nicotine receptors in the brain over-ride your taste buds after a short period as long as the brain is getting nicotine.
It's like if you smoked cigarettes, you enjoyed the taste. If you quit for at least a month and went back (especially if you smoked some good cigars in the meantime) the first cigarette tasted absolutely terrible: it is the bottom of the rung when it comes to tobacco.
But after a few more, it wasn't so bad and within a week I would be back up to 1.5 packs a day. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin and your brain will over-ride your taste buds to get it.
During my taste test, I spit out my first portions of Camel Frost, Triumph Original and Triumph Mint. The taste of three was horrible. But I forced myself to keep using them while not using Swedish at the same time.
The Camel Frost didn't tingle: it burned painfully the first portion. There was no tobacco taste and barely any other taste. But by the 5-6 portion, it was "OK", I could taste the mint, but no tobacco still. And I was getting nicotine (how much, I'm trying to verify...it's not 8mg like they first said)
The Triumph original was described as having a "hint" of peach. My first portion was so sickly sweet I couldn't keep it in. But by the 5-6 portion, the peach was "just a hint" and it was "OK". Same with the mint.
If you've been using Camel or Triumph regularly, you may have to adjust to real Swedish......like a Blunt cigar smoker switching to Cuban cigars.
I would start with a mild Swedish. The Offroad comes in lots of flavors, does have a mild tobacco flavor, and will not be sickly sweet but sweet. Force yourself through at least 6 portions...don't judge by the first one. There are some you won't like....there are Swedish snuses that I don't like. But with well over a hundred different varieties, there are plenty I do.
You may also want to try the General Sterk (only the Sterk). It's mild, not heavily flavored and is also a strong snus meaning it has 11mg of nicotine instead 8mg. The Triumph was supposed to have 8mg but I've learned otherwise. I'm writing an article on it today after I give Lorillard one last chance to comment.
This is the first I read, heard or knew anything about Kent buying Triumph. I spoke to Lorillard a week ago and they said they were moving (slowly) forward but not cancelling the test. Anyone have any info on that?
Hope that helps!

BTW, I have confirmation from SM that the nicotine level in Triumph is a lot lower than 8mg. Explains why during my American Snus taste test, myself and some of my other readers complained they were going through up to a can a day of Triumph while they used considerably less with Swedish. I'm doing an article on it today after I talk to Lorillard....and maybe Kent!
Thanks for the Kent info and please reply or PM me where I can find it documented. THAT would be something I would want to write about.
Sincerely,
Mr Unz

If you do call them though ask if they are ever going to ramp up their distribution. I don't really like Triumph but it's much better in a pinch than Camel's poo IMO. Please don't get mad at me Camel aficionados, this is not an attack on anyone that likes the product.

I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
