I have the loose snus box and use it for both loose or portions - the quality is great and it looks good. I haven't seen the portion box, but you may not be able to fit a loose tin in there without smushing the snus in the center (where the lid tray is)... but I'm not sure about that. Maybe send a PM to icetool asking?

I just received my icetool portion box and agree with Zero as to it's quality and presentation. He's likely right about the probability of smushing loose snus in the center were you to empty an entire 50 g can into the box.

However, I can see this durable portion box being multipurpose as you are are suggesting, cigator. The portion lid is a quarter inch deep and measures close to 5.25 cm in diameter, which would be the perfect size for you to keep enough loose for a nice pris or three (depending, of course, on how much you use, lol). The top lid is heavy enough for you to remove and feel confident in using it as a base to dig your icetool into or form one by hand. Just be sure to snap the portion lid tight when you're putting it away or you'll wind up with a muddy mess somewhere other than your upper lip!

If you're not wanting to buy both, I'd go with the portion box. After all, one of the advantages to carrying this tin is that you can leave snus you would otherwise tote around in its original container under refrigeration. With this in mind, the loose box seems to have less practical value and more to do with aesthetics. With the portion box, it seems you could carry exactly what you feel you need, both loose and portion!

This is all in theory, of course, I've yet to try it out in practice. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes once I give it a shot.

Before that I'd always just kept a couple old portion boxes for the same purpose - taking out the day's snus while leaving the rest cold.

I've got 47 empty cans at the moment  I'm not collecting or anything ... some months ago - all for no reason - I just started building a tower in the back of my closet, and now the tower won't stop!

It's stupid, but someday I hope to have a tower of snus cans too.

            That is the dream.

It's like a 3D snus-journal. Funny to see how the preferences change. Small enclaves of N & J here, occasional pairs of Knox there - and big black parts of General.

Thanks for your input. I did order the portion box. Look forward to carring loose and portion to have available at all times.
