    Gellivare Juniper berry(2nd try)

    Gellivare Juniper berry.

Ok, I have to say this is terrible.
It is just me? Or is this stuff bad?

I got it in a trade with a guy I trust, and have traded before. I don't think he'd knowingly send me anything bad.

But this stuff smelled terrible, and tasted worse. It was loose snus.

He did say it's not made anymore.

I stuck a pris in, even though the open can had an unpleasant smell, but after 5 mins and most, I thought, why am I doing this, this is terrible.

Ugh, had to wash out my mouth and put some Grov in it.

It never was really made. If you lived in Sweden, you could order a kit directly from the company, and flavors were available if you chose to use them. Flavors weren't available for sale from the prepackaged product though. The base Gellivare had a rich pure* tobacco flavor, and moderate salt. That and Landströms from the same company was some of my favorite lös snus.

*I believe some kind of flavoring was added, but damned if I could tell you what it was. If there was added flavor, it was very subtle, and the taste was just tobacco for all intents and purposes.

LOL thats what you get for trusting that cut-throat bastard. However, thats Juniperberry for you. I personally don't like that flavor either but there are many here that do like it. You can probably air it out somewhat as I noticed it was pretty moist. That might help. Just leave the tin open for a few hours then mix it up some. 8)

The snus is good, been kept in the freezer and I've passed along about 4 lbs worth and everyone else liked it..........that I know of. Its all gone now.

maybe ya should have opted for wintergreen or anis flavoring. sorry

Whoever flavored it might have used to much of the concentrate.

The stuff I got was flavored just right, and had a nice tobacco flavor, with a hint of Bombay gin type flavor!

It's all in how you mix the flavoring. 8)

It was mixed exactly the same proportions and the same way I mixed yours.

The can I got was not from a member here. I'll try to air it out some and mix it up some. But really, is this that "windex" smell I sometimes hear about?

I'm not a huge fan of Juniper snus. LD Blue(RIP) was a big favorite of mine, but Göteborgs I don't care for at all. Orlik makes a snus called Göteborgs that I rather like, but the gin flavor is substantially less than the SM product.

LMAO, I thought I had sent you some. I guess not. Yea, my ppl seem to be quite happy with what I mixed up. There IS a knack to mixing it tho so I'm not surprized to hear that there may be a problem. Or maybe its just not a taste that you like.

You may have a while back, when I 1st tried snus, and didn't like it. I may have traded it off or gotten rid of it. But no, I just got this can today from omeone else. I poured it into a bowl, I am concerned it might dry out some, but I guess I could just add water, but if it remains tasting bad to me, I'll probably chuck it.

I'd almost forgotten about good ole LD Blue. Why, for the life of me, I wonder did they keep the black but kill the blue. That was the best thing LD ever made.

Well, it may be just a flavor I don't like. I'll try it again tomorrow. But I did dump it all out in a bowl and stir it up for almost 2 hours, which it did dry out a bit, but I stirred in some water and dumped it back in the can.

I guess you just have to have a taste for it. I was always a big fan of gin so I love it! Not sure when I'll be able to purchase Gellivare again' so it's definately a special occasion snus for me! Don't worry PP, I guess it wasn't your fault...this time! 8)

hey. I think it tastes like shit. The wintergreen wasn't too bad tho, neither was the original. We all have different tastes.

I liked them about equally. I'm a huge licorice fan, and LD has the best licorice portions imo. The Blue was rockin' though. A nice amount of salt, and a true juniper flavor. Having a portion of that was like chewing on a juniper branch, as opposed to gin like the other snuses taste.

Ok, I tried this again today, and it's a 100% better. Not great, not as good as Grov or Offroad Cranberry... but it's OK, and I'll use it.
