    nicotine level in camel snus

so.. i keep hearing that camel has some weak snus, but today i read this:
    http://tobaccoproducts.org/index.php...esign_Features

which says camel has 14.5mg/g of nicotine and since each pouch is .6g, that means 8mg of nicotine which is par for the course according to northerner.com.

i know it's still overpriced, but if true, that would make me feel a little better about buying it. especially since buying it online will be a felony in Washington state soon.

lucky for me, the stuff is still pretty unpopular around here, so i can find a 2 for one deal if i look around.

does anyone know if this information about the nicotine content is true? it's not easy to find info online..

All snus is not created equal. Camel Snus may indeed have 8mg of nicotine. The difference is protonated vs unprotonated nicotine. The higher the pH level, the higher the amount of unprotonated nicotine. That's one of the reasons Swedish Snus has that characteristic salty taste.

I think they are constantly playing with the camel snus levels. My friend uses it, he used to say it had no nicotine in it, now hes saying something completely different. He said hes gotten dizzy off it and felt sick. that they did something to the nicotine levels. So I have no idea what to believe now.

My very first snus was Camel. MD was in the first distribution after the initial 3 test cities. I felt sick a couple of times using it, and I was coming from chain smoking, handrolled American Spirit cigarettes. I've never accused Camel of being low in nicotine.

I get more nicotine out of a Discreet snus and even the Mini Mints than the Camels, so I think there's no way they have that much in them!

I haven't had Camel since may, so it may have changed since then, but I had to pack at least two portions to get any nicotine, sometimes 3.
And I thought that the bill only gave the FDA the power to ban products like Camel snus that hadn't been on the market for two years. :?
I would read the bill, but like our nations politicians, I won't because it's too damn long

Just in case you didn't know, you can order it from The Northerner's US wharehouse.

                        misunderstanding

I think you're referring to the swedish camel snus, not the stuff sold here in the states under the guise of frost, and spice. These are two different animals.

I agree, camel frost seems to have very little nicotine content. I had it last in May. The flavor does last quite a long time. It may give some relief with regards to the oral fixation portion of snusing but not nicotine. I would rather hit a homerun with Thunder frosted.

Huh, I just now actually read the link...Pasteurized, made in Sweden?? Eh, take that or leave it I suppose. Apparently the pouches have been getting bigger.
I do lover their subtle way of telling people it's not dip:
                              http://tobaccoproducts.org/index.php...r_now_back.jpg
"Snus is not dip. It goes in your mouth, but it's definitely not dip. Did we mention it's not dip? 'Cause it's not."
Props to Camel, for blunt-force subtlety
