My first snus , some 2 - 3 weeks ago now , was General original , white , and wintergreen . All portions . I picked them up at the local tabacco shop because I was growing impatient waiting for my first order to arrive . I thought the original was really salty . That being a portion , I cant imagine how salty it must seem in los when just starting out  . That said , the wintergreen was not nearly as salty , not very wintergreenie ( is that a word? ) either . I mean dont be expecting Kodiak flavor . Now that I am three weeks in , I tried the Original portion again tonight , and Sage was right , once again . The overly salty flavor from the first few I tried is all but gone . Just enough now to help bring out the other flavors . I am sucking the last bit of goodness out of one as I type .. Keep at it , it will get better .

    Hope this helps some ....

You should try Knox . In my personal opinion, it has a somewhat similar taste to Ettan. That pure tobacco taste. And not much saltiness from my experience with it. If you're diggin the loose, Knox comes in both portion and loose. Can't comment on the loose as I've only had the portions. I didn't notice the traditional bergamot taste in the Knox, just the tobacco taste.

PMD- If the General and Grov is loose and you decide you don't like them, I can trade you for Ettan loose. I like all three and remember suggesting General and Grov to you.

Another one you might like that is not salty would be Skruf Stark Loose.

didnt mean to muscle in on your action snuffie, just thought id also offer if he has multiple cans.

I don't like the salt taste either man, not an everyday thing for me, I use maybe 1 of the regulars a day, either Ettan, General, or Grov, they all 3 taste really salty to me, so I don't use them much, sometimes it's nice though, reminds of Copenhagen.
The go to all day every day is General wintergreen, and Thunder frost.
Those two have a very nice flavor, no noticeable salty flavor, easy on the American taste buds, and the juice is easy on the belly.. Give those a try man. I bet you'll like those.

I appreciate the input guys as always. No the Grov and General are both portions. Only loose I have is Ettan and Prima Fint and I like both of them. I hope I can get over the salt taste. Any thing I am trying now it is just really prevalent. Didn't notice it as much when I started.

I also dislike salt in general, and that's the reason that I have developed a preference for v2's products. Thunder Frosted, WG, and Blue are not salty at all, and Thunder Original tastes like Skruf with less salt and without rose oil (i.e. Thunder Original tastes much, much better than Skruf).

My first snus was General Mini Mint (first Swedish), my second snus was Jakobsson's Ice Fruit, which tasted like licking a salt block, because I wasn't used to it. Now I barely notice it. It usually blends with the tobacco.

I dunno Ive honestly hardly tasted the salt in snus except for ettan los. 2 of my main snacks though are salt and vinegar chips and salted peanuts. I eat the heavily salted shells too.

My personal snus story, I did not take to snus at 1st. I also didn't get a good 1st selection in retrospect, and I quit snus shortly after trying it, coming back to revisit it a few months later. For me, it was a combination of my body not used to it, not being used to, or acclimated to the salt, and not originally placing the portion up front enough. When I 1st did snus, the 1st time, and the 2nd time, it was like little bags of salt in my mouth. And the 2nd time, I used a spit cup for about a week. Then when I moved the portion more in front, the heavy salaive really stopped, I became allimated to the salt, now no snus is heavy salt, but Jak's Classic was recently. When I 1st did snus, I was not used to regular nic, as I was just a binge smoker to accompany my binge drinking, but I switched to nasal snuff, and that, I believe, got my body used to the nic, when I revisited snus. So my advice to a newbie, that really wants to use and appreciate snus, is you may have to struggle a little with it, as it's a different thing most are not used to, but a week or 2 of regular use(6-8 times a day), and keeping the portion up front, you should get used to it.

My faith in snus has been restored. I finished my cans of Grov, General, General ES, and LD. Started back with General Onyx and Probe this morning and really enjoyed them. Didn't taste salt at all. Judging by my having gone through all the flavors, original and strong portions are going to be my favorites.

I am going cut my choices down because my money is not going be as plentiful due to some income flow I've counted on for my tobacco fix being cut back. Might try Nick & Johnny and a few others but will stick to the ones I've liked so far because I can't afford to make bad choices right now. I still have my Thunder, Elixyr, and Gote #2 portion cans to last me for a while along with the 20 cans of Ettan and Prima Fint los. All of the ones I have left, just one portion is flavorful enough not to have to use Discreet to mask the flavor of the ones I didn't like. Only problem with the los is I can't use it at work.

Hopefully, that store at my local mall will carry at least Onyx of the General brand and Discreet so I won't have to buy so much at one time.

Good that your faith is restored. It took me 2-3 weeks to get past the salt. I'm revisiting a few cans from my first order now that I have a better taste for them. I ordered a Nick & Johnny as well. Heard good things about it, so hope it lives up to the hype. I also ordered a can of Onyx as I've never tried it, and got tired of waiting on my free can from the survey.
