    If you want Monte Cristo...

Just get Taboca Loose and squeeze a lemon in it

I swear it's the same stuff pretty much. Same can, same grind, same price. Anyone else compare those?

    Thoughts?

Just for the record, I'm not that big into Monte Loose. It's good but the flavoring is a bit strong for my taste.

I just found lxler's (sp) thread on this topic, so sorry for the duplicate thread.

@Baker: Even though your deleted post was off topic, I enjoyed reading it last nite.

    -Cheers!

Snuffie I've never tried this one. Just always heard that it was not worth the high price for less snus. What's your take? Worth it or no?

I was a little disappointed in the Taboca lös. I was hoping it would be like Montecristo, but there were some big enough differences that they weren't really alike. The Taboca has something going on as a secondary flavor, that really isn't like the Montecristo at all. Montecristo is heavy bergamot, with a heavy tobacco flavor base. The Taboca is heavy bergamot and ?. I'm not sure what that flavor is, fig perhaps?, but it really throws it off the track.

Montecristo lös is very good. I'd get it more if it weren't a hassle, but it's close enough to Gotland Gul, that I don't feel I need to have it. Taboca lös is decent also, but I find it significantly inferior to the Gotland. It's certainly worth buying 1 tin to see what you think, but I wouldn't start with a roll or anything.

Snusdog, It's not worth it IMO. However, I think it's a good idea to try a can just so you can make your own mind up. It's a nice tin at least. It's not bad really, I just prefer many others better.

I have to disagree, about lemon in Taboca, I spent considerable effort to obtain and try Montecristo los, and I have waited about two months to form an opinion. I have tried the Taboca los for a month now, and have been a Gottlands Gul fan for three months. My 2 Cents:

Montecristo- Yum! But the Cuban is the appeal, and it is too strong a taste, it just comes on strong after the bergamot is tapering. It is Packaged in one of the best cans, but the price and hassle is just too much. I consider it a once and a while dessert type snus, but if it was legal here, I would only use it once and awhile. The illicit nature is the greatest appeal to me.

Gottslands Gul- YUM! Montecristo without that over powering cuban cigar taste!

Taboca los- OK, but that fig is unlike anything else.

So if you want to know what Montecristo is like, get some Gottsland Gul and you have a 95% match, and some money left over for more snus.

100% agreed. Even though I can get MC easily I don't consider it to be superior to Gotlands Gul in any way. Frankly, I prefer the taste of Gul any day.

I'm glad I started this thread. I'm not good at describing tastes, it's always vague and simple. But you guys really nail the details and it helps me appreciate these snusii with more focus. Thanks for all the great replies!
