So when did America become so interested in snus anyways?

(firemarth) Two reasons. High cigarette taxes, and smoking bans.
this is going to catch on here, perhaps not where i live so much as anyone here using smokeless tobacco uses dip, but in other places less rural and more willing to try something different. in my experience, having tried the camel it was not viable for me to keep using the dip. snus just cannot be compared to that. it's a shame that camel has such a weenie snus, but it is opening up people's eyes to this form of tobacco and i believe it is going to spread. i am still awaiting my sample of discreet snus, hopefully this domestic supplier has gotten what camel has missed.

Would be good if people would get interested to snus and buy it, less of these ruined lungs.

I'll go with the taxes and smoking bans answer. We've been taxed pretty good the last 2 years in wisconsin, but a lot of the bans haven't gone through here yet. One just passed, and demands acceptance by July of next year.

Many people I know want to quit, but just can't. And dip isn't an alternative for many people.

The problem is, is that Camel's US product is such a pussy. You aren't gonna take a 1 and a half to 2 pack a day smoker and think that little, sugary, 5mg/pouch piece of candy is going to satisfy their cravings for nicotine. If there was EVER a product directing at teens to get them into the clutches of the tobacco industry, it's this stuff.

You want SNUS to catch on in the US and help transition from a smoker's market? Roll out heavy hitters like Thunder and other Stark brands that still taste good.

I got interested in snus when the indoor smoking bans went into effect in my state. Where I work they tor down the smoker's shack. It was pretty much an awning with a heater and a couple benches. All ashtrays outside suddenly disappeared (real smart) and taxes went through the roof. Then came the holier than though looks down people's noses when I took a smoke break telling me I stunk.

Then very shortly thereafter i got a desk job. Only smoker in the office. Way too busy to have a cigarette every hour or two as I was accustomed.

            HELLO SNUS! *!*!*!YAY!*!*!*

If I was a newb to tobacco I would have a smoke because it rewards you so quickly. Maybe if there was a Thunder Snus around people would end up buying it. Triumph is quite good, but I have still not seen it in lower Michigan. What is the cost of Triumph in the U.S.? I could go for $3.50 a container for 20 pouches.
As far as I know, it's still only available at retail in Ohio and Georgia. I can't remember if it's 20 or 24 per can, I've never really counted. It's a bit low on nicotine, but enough to do the trick as long as you're not an everyday stark user.

Northerner had it available at the US warehouse for awhile, but that doesn't appear to be the case any longer.

It may or may not be worth a drive to Toledo if you really want to try it. It certainly is the best of the US brands. I could use it on a regular basis if I had to.

It won't happen, though, due to the politics here. They'd be burned at the stake if they made something like Thunder or Oden's domestically.

I am honestly very satisfied with the Tourney Snus. It's only over 2 dollars, and has 20 portions. It's made in Sweden, and I find it on par with Grov Whites. I picked up the Spearmint and Wintergreen today, just to have them and try them. So far I have only used the Original, and I am really happy I found these locally sold. I really hope it continues and sells.

Check for Speedway stores. The website for the snus maker has a location finder too:

Don't worry; you're not missing out on anything. Tourney snus has a terrible metallic taste, is extremely dry, and has won't satisfy nicotine cravings.

Well, I never get a "buzz" anyway, but I think the Tourney Snus Original is not bad at all, and 1000 times better than Camel faux "snus". It's also way better than those Klondike pouches I tried. It may not be "A" grade Swedish snus, but I'd call it "B" grade "American" snus, and I think it's not bad at all, and I am happy to see it at a store that's not a specialty tobacconist.
