questions about los?

So Ive been snusing for two months now (used to snus about two years ago)
mostly white and sterk, but I just tried my first los. I got a can of roda lacket because I really enjoy their portion. Maybe its because I am a former chain smoker, but I really get nothing from this los. No flavor unless its running down my teeth. No nic hit. I am using a prismaster. I don't know whats up because I know so many of you love los.

It's hard to explain, but for me... snus is not about big hit you in the face with a mouth of flavor. And the los I've had, even the "flavored" are on the subtle side. I like Grovlos a lot, and while I don't get a mouth of flavor, there is just something about los I like. It's kinda bland, kinda mud like, but has an edibleness about it, to me.

Thanks, Tom I think I can see what your saying. When I left a large pris in for a while I did get a pleasentness from it, just not the nic hit. I guess coming off cigarettes I feel like I need that hit off the bat. Snus is winning the battle though. I now rarely crave a smoke, usually only after I eat or if taking a long drive in the car.

First, wadetheblade, you have got one of the mildest los brands out there. It is also one of the finest cut. Thus when you use a firm bake it keeps less saliva from getting in and less flavor from getting out. Grov, Fint, and Ettan are also pretty mild at first.

Try something like Knox, Skruff, Phantom blue, or one of the Gotlands.

Still. there is much "gentle pressure" from folks that they are supposed to love los. I am glad I am around here so folks can see that some, very long time users, really don't much like los, that they aren't alone in those thoughts.

Anyway I'll post my thoughts on the Fint once I revisit it.

If your los dries out, just dump it in a bowl, break it up with a fork, and add a teaspoon of water(more or less as needed), stir it up, and put it back.

I would say flavor wise, it could because you have only been using it for 2 months now (I am assuming a break since the 2 years ago thing). When I first started a year ago, a lot of the los had no flavor for me whatsoever. Now though, the more subtle snus has more flavor than it did for me.

I tried Ettan when I first started, and I didn't get it at all. Bland as hell. I just placed an order that has a couple tins of it though, cause my tastes have changed. I figure now I will get that chocolaty hint that people here talk about.

As for nic hit, I don't get any real punch from ANY snus. I use sterk snus mainly, but that is because I like the flavors more than the regular. There is one snus though that punched me in the face, and that is Oden's los. Got a rush within 10 minutes, and made me a little dizzy. Also gave me headaches, so I won't being using that again, but I recommend it if the nic is what you are really going for.

It was just tongue and cheek (like I was trying to keep a potential los convert on the straight and narrow and not let him get side tracked by the minions of portioners). Lös needs some getting used to.

After my first small 5-can portion/lös - order I thought that lös isn't for me, so my second order was only portions.

But I didn't give up and continued to use prillas from my 2 lös-cans. Before the second order arrived I already was used so much to the stuff, that I had to make a third order. That all happened within 5 days back in December 2006.

The first impression of lös often isn't good due to beginner's mistakes and/or a sense of taste that is still harmed by smoking. Just don't give up until you've finished at least one can.

BTW, for someone who wants flavor and much nicotine, Röda Lacket is indeed a bad choice. The taste differs heavily from the fruity portions and additionally the basic pure-tobacco-taste is even slightly masked by hints of liquorice. I never understood why Röda Lacket lös gets recommended to newbies that often. An easy "bakeability" is not all that matters IMHO. Röda Lacket lös is an excellent brand nonetheless.

I am on the other end of the spectrum from what you folks say. I came from skoal, but right from the get go, I got flavor from every type I tried and almost loved them all. BTW, I read what Sagedil said about retro white and ordered some. Man he was right, this stuff is great.
