It takes lots of plants for a company to make a decent sized batch of snus for resale. They probably go thru thousands a day. gees....some ppl.

I have been looking for them for a while, I wanted to tell them to wake the maintenance guy the **** up and get him to fix the malfunctioning portion sealing machine for Christs sake. The former Gotlandssnus/current Taboca plant in Gotland is smaller than an average roadside McDonalds, and can produce over 5m cans annually. Mertz maker/packers are designed to minimize footprint if necessary.
JTI has over 20m per year capacity in an old grain storage facility outside of Gothenburg (Vargarda) with the "clean" area on several floors in two tiny buildings.
Actual area is determined by on-site leaf storage and the required refrigerated storage area for fresh product.
Usually, capacity bottlenecks are a result of insufficient maker/packer capacity, and not primary. In general, however, a snus factory can operate in a small space. I've heard rumors that Gellivare is/was literally produced in a factory resembling a garage.Comment
