I just squeeze mine between two fingers so that it doesn't bulge as much.

Indeed! At first I even thought "who in the world would fluff snus!" I really had to read the message to realise that it's about fluffing portions.

I did fluff portions a few times as a newbie until I noticed that nothing fluffs a portion better than the upper lip.

Except for star formation ones, I fluff and then compress until they're totally flat and super thin.
So my fingers are now brown from snus rather than yellow from nicotine.
You can't win 'em all...

I roll them with two fingers until all the snus is separated and loose.. Then, I gently compact them into more of a hot-dog shape. I get more juice that way.. Although, with the Onyx I just loosen them up a bit, and pop them in.

I actually prefer when they are more compact together. It allows it to take the shape of my gums easier and I find it more comfortable and flavorful.

I roll em around and flop em between my teeth a bit. not too often do I go right out of the can into the lip.

I like to make sure the tobacco is evenly distributed in the portion material, and then (sometimes) I fold them lengthwise. Folded regular portions are like a thicker mini to me. Easier to hide and keep in.

Never have to do much of anything to actual minis, though. They're just right to begin with.

For me it really depends on which kind it is.

For something like a Nick and Johnnys I will fluff. For some reason though others, like General WG taste sooo much better to me un-fluffed. The roll of General WG im working on right now is killer...nice and tightly packed squares of fresh salty goodness. So frickin good for some reason when they are tightly packed that way.
